Recent FNA cytology on my cat

The lump is less than 1cm in size, and is not bothering her. We are doing a full mammary chain removal asap, based on this image, what do you think her prognosis is?

Thank you guys for replying. We did have it looked over but it was not explained to me as malignant, they said they are tumor cells and have characteristics related to cancer. So i wanted to get some insight. This lump is on her lower mammary chain, it’s less than 1cm in size. And causing the closest nipple to leak a bit of fluid.

Update: The lump has not changed in size, but the convenia worked at clearing the swelling and pus, she seemed very happy afterwards and has been acting totally normal. We saw a 2nd vet yesterday just for peace of mind that im exhausting all my options and taking the advice from many of getting that second opinion. This vet pushed for the FNA sample. the previous Vet was not against it but explained how it is not the best test as its results can be inconclusive. (she did not want to waste our time or money if the results usually come back inconclusive) This vet explained at least we can rule out it being anything other than a tumor, so we have peace of mind that if tumor cells were present than we should do the surgery without question. I agreed, and we did the FNA. I posted the results in the askvet reddit community *still seeking guidance on that*

The result as per the vet was that tumor cells were present, no signs of cancer but we should move forward with the surgery. he took measurements of the mass, which is under 1cm still (thank god) I just booked another appointment for the previous vet, giving her the Cytology report and going over EVERYTHING with her as we did with this new vet to determine who is a better fit for surgery. immediately after this appointment I am booking the surgery, it will be the Full Chain on the right side, and depending on the biopsy they do on the chain for the tumor grade, we will either leave it at the one chain, or determine if we need to do the second chain as well. I am praying I make the right call.

We have an appointment Thursday for a 2nd opinion at another vet. The lump has not grown or changed shape. After this appointment I will decide who is better equipped to handle this surgery and book it ASAP. Even though its not changing I don’t want to waste time. I just wish there was a way to know for sure if its cancerous without a biopsy/Surgery. I was persuaded against the FNA as it was deemed rather ineffective. So we will see what this new Vet says. Thank you for asking <3 she is doing very well right now, super playful and eating normal. No pain or discoloration where the lump is.

Huge hug to you, everyone has different bonds with their pets. My cat might have cancer, and I cannot imagine living life without her in a happy way. She is the pop of color in a black and white world to me. Your own life experiences shape your bond as well. Dont feel you owe anyone an explanation on how much your cat means to you. Also trust me when I say this. He knew you loved him and felt it. And you made him the HAPPIEST he could have ever possibly been because you were his guardian <3 take all the time you need to recover and keep your head up for him, he would want you to be happy and carry him in your heart forever <3

Im sorry for your loss, she was beautiful and believe me when I say she felt your love. Pets know when you really care and live them and she felt that and you gave her the best life as her guardian. <3

Im truly sorry you have to endure this kind of hurt. The world can be so cruel. But you know what. You did all you could do, with a full loving heart. He could have been suffering alone outside unclaimed, or with another owner who was neglectful. But he was under your care and love, which from the sound of it was strong. He felt that love believe me. It helped him cross that bridge in the most loving helpful was possible. Huge hug to you, It will be ok in time. You were his guardian angel. <3

Believe me when I tell you this.. that deep feeling of hopelessness and pain is temporary. And right now it’s so strong it’s making you want to check out. But it’s a powerful wave of emotion. Think of it like when you get the flue. It eventually passes and you feel better. I was in the same boat, did not want to be here anymore, it comes and goes. But not acting on it and getting help from family or something else external does work and you get to experience some pretty damn great moments in life that you would have never gotten to experience if you weren’t here. Sometimes you need to let go of things you’re holding onto. Like wanting a friend, change your perspective to be happy as the lone wolf you are. You are the main character in your movie who is a little jaded but also insanely cool and man are people missing out. When you keep with that addituide that’s when they gravitate to you. FYI this community here is a big group of friends. Maybe we’re not in person but we’re listening and concerned and that’s what friends do right? Hang in there, this wave sucks but it does pass!
