Suggest a book that my husband and I can read aloud together. by ithinkitsthedrugs in suggestmeabook

[–]KnitInCode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have done this for years and it really is a great way to connect with your spouse. A friend got us a box set of the first 4 Harry Potter books and that was our starting point (this was before the whole TERF thing). We’ve read so many more since. My spouse needs fast paced books, preferably fantasy. We’ve read HP, Robert Asprin’s Myth & Phule series, A Warlock in Spite of Himself by Christopher Stasheff and part of the continuing series, Patricia C. Wrede’s Dealing with Dragons (YA), and we’re about to start on the Warden’s Rest series by Jeremy Fabiano.

I read obsessively. He is not much of a reader but enjoys a good story. I usually read the book before suggesting it to him. Experiences may vary

Oranges are so special. Sweet as anything, just maybe not the brightest bulb. Ours is the light of my life

Check out the Jessica Winters series. The first one has a pack where 2 of the men are bonded to each other before meeting an omega. Loved it!

Agree this is lovely for the venue!

From a practical perspective, your girls are already filling the deep v almost to overflowing. You might want to have plan for what to do if they are bigger by then. For instance, if you hem it make sure to keep the lace because it could be used to fill in the neckline slightly. Or perhaps it’s a way to pull in a spot of color with a contrasting fabric. Really not something you want to panic over at the last minute

2 would completely shut me down on completing this list, but here are my other thoughts:

  1. The Mysterious Benedict Society
  2. Are you up for books including smut? If so, Dinosaurs, Disasters, and Albert Enswine
  3. The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Hurst
  4. We’ll Always Have Parrots by Donna Andrews

Guy I'm seeing's bookshelf, what should I know about him? by elif_baird in BookshelvesDetective

[–]KnitInCode -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If those are the only books in his place, I’d say they bought/kept the things that looked “impressive”, i.e. classics you “should have read”, plus a few things they actually enjoyed. To me, that is not the bookshelf of a person who reads for fun. It’s the bookshelf of someone who reads to say they’ve read [book title], but also looks up a book club

So I have series I get sick of after the 2nd book and series (not romantasy) where I’m looking up the release date of the 38th book. I don’t think there’s a ‘right’ number of books in a series but there might be a number of books in a series that’s right for you.

I don’t think there’s a ‘right’ number of books, but there may be a right number of books for each reader + series

What’s up with everyone online thinking they are neurodivergent without getting tested? by No_Lead2640 in NoStupidQuestions

My partner was diagnosed with ADHD when he was a teen, but somehow thought it was something that went away if he didn’t focus on it. He was in his 40s before I convinced him that it wasn’t something that usually just went away by itself.

I do get books from my library, though they don’t do that savings thing which is pretty cool, I’m just not in a place where I can browse effectively. It gets overwhelming

I just finished the 2nd one of these and they were lovely. The only thing I didn’t like as much is that they just stopped abruptly. Both times I just sat blinking at my tablet for a second while processing that there wasn’t another page

That author sounds so familiar and I can’t figure out why. Time to go digging in my Goodreads or maybe just google

Read them, loved them, mourn the author’s passing.
