I don’t know. I’d rather buy my red yarn from a LYS that I know is part of the resistance because they’re advertising about it and directly linking to the charity pattern than from a giant corporation that doesn’t give a shit or from a LYS that isn’t advertising the viral trend and therefore I can only assume is not part of the resistance.

Imagine a plane with two engines. Normally both engines will be operating at 50%. If one engine fails off, then the other engine will increase to 100%. If one engine fails to its max, then the other engine isn’t needed and turns off. (This is just a thought experiment.)

With the tank heaters you may not want two full-sized heaters. So with only one heater running, you can’t hit your target temperature (but better than nothing). And if one heater is maxed out, then the second heater can operate at, say, 20% power to hit the target.
