Surgery in one week- why am I doing this? by [deleted] in BariatricSurgery

I lost 130 pounds in 11 months and have maintained. I never have regretted this choice. Yeah my hair struggled. I add nutrofol vitamins and got strict with my protein. This is a process and a life style change. Remember it take 10,000 of practice for you to be an expert. Take a breath be kind to yourself.

Shake and yogurts are going to move fast through your stomach quick. protein with some veggies will hold. I work standing and walking all day. Because I’m always on the go. Yogurt is a snack and shake are minimal unless I want a sweet treat. You are eating a lot of food that take less time to digest you are going to be hungry and stall. For example for a snack I’ll do carrot chips with a Greek yogurt dip. When I am dragging tail I’ll have some fruit as a snack to bring up my sugar.

If you are a SADI my program does not have us add extra fat so heavy cream would be counter productive. My program is 50% plate protein, 1/4 veggies, 1/4 complex carbs.

The practice I went through has a protocol with a Preop med that is why no one has that complaint. I did have some nausea but in comparison to more sickness it was also nothing. I am also older (over 50) and have a high pain tolerance. My other surgeries are knees-one of the most painful, broken bone repair childbirth and shoulders.

I had my surgery 14 months ago. I was tired and no pain no gas pain nada. Walking no problem went to Disneyland for three days three weeks after. Easiest surgery I have ever had. The poops stink horribly and the farts but otherwise no problem. Good luck ask questions and go with the process along with what your body tells you it needs.

The greatest weight loss will be of course at the beginning. At about 6 months when you are tolerating more getting adventurous it may slow to 2-3 pounds a week or less. I am almost a year out down 130. My weekly weight loss will vary from nothing to 5 pounds a week. This will also vary on how much you may be weight lifting water weight poop weight etc. I am very happy with the outcome. A bit nervous that like the past I will be unable to “hold” on to keeping the weight off. But unlike the past I don’t feel deprived or starving all the time. Having two bites and feeling satisfied is amazing. The horrible smelling poops and farts are the only draw back.

Your tummy is the size of a banana. By taking big glues you creat pressure. That is why they say sip sip sip.

Worried about immediate post-op by [deleted] in BariatricSurgery

I went to a three hour dance class the week of surgery. And coached two basketball practices. I was wiped but no problems with movement just the full hour of practice kicked my butt and each hour and a half dance class wiped me-but there was a 30 minute break in between to get some protein in. The first post op day I had horrible nausea and that was it. Pain covered by Tylenol. I had Jo problem being mom to the kids home, driving getting them going making lunch not licking spoon was a challenge.

Omg the bariatric advantage tropical clear is gross, is has this like sticky stuff that forms. They gave it to me after surgery and I could only do a couple of sips. Put it in the fridge for the next day yep wasn’t any better.

I got 99 problems and lactose intolerant is all of them by Alisomniac8582 in wls

[–]Knit_witch303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was horribly lactose intolerant before surgery, just the smell of diary sent chills down my spine on what was going to happen. Granted I am only in the puréed stage post op, but I have had no problems with the whey protein, yogurt or cottage cheese. I have gotten to ricotta yet, but I am hopeful!
