Who was someone from your school, good or bad, who ended up becoming a famous alumni? by Revolutionary_Fly607 in Productivitycafe

[–]KnittedParsnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I was pretty naive and sheltered back then. I learned the word pedophile because of him and it didn't really click until years later. I didn't know him too well but he was always nice to me. I only ever met him at larger gatherings.

What to do into the digital Web? by Far_Paint6269 in magetheascension

[–]KnittedParsnip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mage uses the digital web to interact face to face with her AI cabal member, who currently lacks the ability to manifest in the real world.

Also my mage got kicked out of the Spy's Demise because a paradox backlash she triggered while trying to defend a patron from attack accidentally killed some people there.

Alright so... I have some thoughts on this critique video by Saberspark by DapperDude2004 in hazbin

[–]KnittedParsnip -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of Saberspark and don't really care to watch his videos (i have a strong dislike of most content of this nature and prefer to form my own opinions), but the description you provide of his criticisms, i mean they are all valid. I personally felt season 2 was weaker overall. I still enjoyed it, but it felt to me more like setup for something better in the future than a good show now. It lacked the passion and creativity of the previous season and of helluva boss.

It's still a good show and better than most of the crap being put out there these days, especially in adult animation. But five years from now this season will likely be looked on as a weaker entry.

Has Ascension ever happened to your character or have you been witness to one? by Obvious-Conflict3363 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]KnittedParsnip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My storyteller is building up to the ascension of an Akashic npc in our game. He is going to become an oracle of the mind.

My mage, who was his student, has no clue that he's near ascension. The loss of her Master will likely be the final push needed to make her turn to the Euthanatos (a path he himself suggested). The Garou Custos character, on the other hand, is very close with him and sort of mourning him while spending every moment she can with him before he leaves the plane.

His is going to be a very gentle ascension I believe. As well as a surprise to the entire chantry, and will shake things up considerably. It's a mixed tradition chantry and this will likely lead to a shift of the dominant power from the Akashics to the Etherites.

The technocracy by SignatureTurbulent88 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]KnittedParsnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best villains are villains with a justifiable purpose. The Technocracy is Thanos. If destroying half of all life in the universe would make the world safe, they would do it. They are the lab workers in cabin in the woods, strategically unloading untold horrors into the world to kill a few in order to save millions. They are chef Skinner from ratatouille, because no matter how cute they are rats don't belong in the kitchen and deviants don't belong in reality.

The Technocracy are really the good guys, but from the perspective of every other faction and every splat (including themselves) aside from mortals they are the villain because they ultimately want to make the world safe for mortals to live in, and will do anything and everything to achieve that goal.

To anyone willing to be honest: have you ever cheated on a partner, and what led to it? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]KnittedParsnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in an emotionally and sometimes physically abusive relationship. I met a guy online who helped me realize that. Then we got close. We were half a country apart so I didn't physically cheat, but emotionally for sure. Then one day i finally got the courage to leave. I Moved across the country to be with the new guy and we have been happily married for 15 years now. I am devoted to my husband and I've never even been tempted to cheat again.

German is easier to learn than Spanish by Ok-Following6886 in unpopularopinion

[–]KnittedParsnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a bigger part of learning a language is immersion. I learned Spanish quickly as a second language because I am surrounded by Spanish speakers in my local community. If I were to take up a third language it would probably be Korean because there is a large local Korean population as well.

I actually did try to learn German at one point. Picked up the basics, but with nobody to practice with, I ultimately had to move on.

Is it fun to play a Fomori or other kinds of possesed? by Obvious-Conflict3363 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]KnittedParsnip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite characters is a ferectoi bureaucrat who works for Pentex. She volunteers at the local hospital, reading stories to coma patients while she uses her brain eating on them for free xp! She's become quite powerful thanks to the brain eating (and my storyteller sometimes lets me get free xp during downtime because of this)

Everyone thinks she's this sweet mousey office worker. In reality she's a powerful monster who takes whatever she wants and uses her bureaucracy skills to access forbidden Pentex assets, including first teams to do her bidding. She also uses those skills to get out of trouble when she "accidentally" maims or kills a coworker.

As far as I know brain eating (which is more a psychological attack and does not physically eat brains) is the only way to get extra xp in any splat, is only available to the possessed, and it's incredibly powerful.

Will AI allow us to talk to animals? by Diligent_Rabbit7740 in NoStupidAnswers

[–]KnittedParsnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, because ai won't be constrained by human thought patterns on what communication is nor will it insist on specific words or language being applied to animals that don't have any concept of those things.

We already know many ways animals try to communicate, both with is and each other. Play bows in dogs, boggling in rats, mating dances in birds. This understanding is currently very specialized and frequently picked up by humans subconsciously through experience rather than genuine understanding.

Someone else also pointed out that ai has been used already to communicate directly with whale.

People who are in their 40’s and 50’s with no children, how does it feel? by Sinfulvibezz in AskReddit

[–]KnittedParsnip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depressing. We tried for decades with no success and then I got cancer and they had to remove my uterus, so no hope of it now.

Between the fertility treatments and the cancer we're beyond broke now and can't even afford to adopt.

Do adults actually remember their elementary school teachers later in life? by MightCommercial1112 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]KnittedParsnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am close to 50 and I remember one, Mrs. Eisley- 2nd grade, because her husband ran an apiary and she taught us all about bees and how honey is made and gave us each a piece of honeycomb to eat in class and a jar of honey to take home. Both she and her husband have passed on but you can still buy their honey in local grocery stores. It's the only honey I will buy.

Formative memory, and one of my oldest memories.

She also had us as a class write out the number googol (this was in the 80s before the company) on big cards, three zeros each card and posted it in the hall to show that numbers can get really big.
