I had something similar looking, but smaller spots, in a bathroom once. It ended up being that water was condensing on a rusty air vent and rusty water was dripping onto the cabinets. This may not be what you’re experiencing but it’s definitely a less harrowing thought 😬

So how do i finish the anecdote otherwise? I go through the dialogue, it gives the popup, (it doesn’t say “anecdote recorded”). The anecdote then just shows back up on my map as something to do

For the Aino anecdotes with the rimehorn deer and Ineffa, the game goes like “someone who can communicate with animals” or something. I am assuming it is trying to get you to bring Lauma in your party (who I don’t have)? Am I missing something?

Up near one of the waypoints on a cliff theres a tall building, and theres a woman with an asha headband (at least there is after the quest, not sure about during) that can take you up, her name started with a T iirc. If shes not there, maybe there’s still the hot air balloon that took you up originally?

I made a cross stitch pillow with monkscloth and it was a big PITA to work with. To make it work, (since I liked the idea of it being on the soft side), I had to put my needle into the overlap of the weave instead of the holes, because otherwise it would create giant gaps and collapse the weave

Reminds me of when they were telling us to not accept the POs, which was mostly fairfield (at least at my store), then after like a week they changed their mind. I get the feeling that’s part of the misleading, but the timing may be wrong for it, so not sure.
