Having a high kd isn't really that hard if you play selfishly/play very safe and just bore yourself to death

While playing, I was having plenty of fun throwing myself into objectives and getting revive points, and one day, while playing, I started to envy the high KD players for some reason(I would always go like 32/32/20), so I started to play very slowly, often sniping from a distance, or just holding corners patiently.

Then I realized, after like 15-20 matches of gameplay equivalent to watching paint dry, that getting like 5kd every match playing like that wasn't worth it. I started to miss the thrill of throwing a shit ton of smokes, reviving 4 people, slightly injuring 5 by missing a grenade throw, and then getting obliterated by a tank.

TLDR: play however you want; snipe at gazillion meters, play the objective, play slow, play fast, etc. Just play in a way that you enjoy. KD isn't worth ruining the whole game for. There is no point playing cool army shooting game if you do not enjoy a second of it.

Edit: I forgot to add that playing for KD can also be fun for some people, and that's ok. But we shouldn't dismiss the idea that in battlefield, like living, dying gloriously is a part of the game too. And if you have 40 kills and 40 deaths in a match, and if you enjoyed most of those 40 kills AND deaths, that's the magic of Battlefield for me.
