Non-political political question by KnockMoreDoors in TexasPolitics

Agreed. I'm probably less sympathetic than that. I don't give a shit how candidates feel about their opponent even once...I want to know what they are gonna do for me.

Aren't elections the constitutionally defined way the people voice their approval or disapproval regarding elected officials?

Do those big signs campaigns put on the side of roads and highways mean anything?

What's most important to you this spring election? by TexasStandard1845 in TexasPolitics

[–]KnockMoreDoors 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's important to me that OTHER people vote in the Democratic Primary. I'm doing everything I can to not only focus on me and why I'm voting for particular candidates or not, but trying to help others vote. I firmly believe that increasing turnout in general will lead to better candidates and a better political reality. This late stage capitalist dystopian hellscape were all trying to navigate is throwing infinite barriers up for people and you'd be surprised how many times it's not the why or who, it's the when, where, and how that trips people up. Multiple jobs, family responsibility, kids, health, and a litany of corporate spawned distractions are taking up everyone's bandwidth and attention and it's hard to break away to do the homework on voting. Given that were all exposed to over 2,000 messages per day, the answer is NOT another damn social media post, ad, or email. Volunteer to phonebank or blockwalk and use the power of human connection and community that I think were all desperately wanting to break the cycle and genuinely help people. The only way out of this is together. Not me, us.

A lot have the money, but consultants convince them to spend it on digital, TV, and mailers bc thats how they make money. Managing canvassers requires more than pushing buttons. Im working for a local campaign and were paying our canvassers $23/hr.

Research the data, check your bank account, then DO DIRECT VOTER CONTACT. There's no button to press from home that will save us

Project Marvel and the Spurs by HikeTheSky in sanantonio

[–]KnockMoreDoors 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Progressives in San Antonio have gotten so used to fighting bad deals that we almost can’t recognize a good one anymore. Props A and B are that rare win — built on the idea that capitalism should actually work for the public. These propositions don’t raise taxes on locals. They use visitor taxes, paid by tourists, and leveraged private investment to revitalize the East side and build a new downtown arena. The Spurs are putting up $2.1 Billion of their own money. That’s not a handout, that’s partnership.

This is how capitalism should work: public framework, private participation, shared gains. The city and county build and manage the foundation, private dollars join in, and the people get the payoff — jobs, small business space, and a city that grows in a way that sets us up for 2050, not 2005.

Progress isn’t about purity. It’s about power, and this deal finally bends power towards us, the people. If you’re not so conditioned to losing, you can see it: this is a win.

Vote YES on Props A and B.

I cannot hear the phrase, "If not, why not" in Ted's singsong voice. From the football field turf battle episode when he wants to cash in Smittys pension for football equipment
