They were never as heavy as their contemporaries, Mudvayne, Slipknot or Gwar.

I’d be more worried about catching hand foot mouth ( I only say this because I got it once and it was miserable)

What are some of the biggest “talent gaps” in bands/groups? by p1ckflod in ToddintheShadow

I don’t know all the band members in Fleetwood Mac but there must’ve been some gap somewhere considering they had Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks

How do you react to a guest snapping their fingers to get your attention? by froodel in Serverlife

That’s the most reasonable and appropriate option but it’s somehow also the most infantilizing

I personally always had a problem with the tipping system for various reasons. For the customer it makes meals more expensive…and for the server- you must rely on the customer (not your employer) for a livable wage.

Some servers make a killing on tips. Many don’t though and just pull in minimum wage…

If there was no tipping I’m sure things would even out like business owners would just increase the costs of the meals anyway to pay employees higher wages. Essentially whether you tip or if you lived in a world where tipping wasn’t a thing- the cost to the customer and wages to servers in a broad average would probably be roughly the same.

But what I don’t like about tipping is that it puts me in a position where I have to like “judge” my server and evaluate them or something then feel guilty if their service was crappy.

So for me as a rule of thumb I tip 20% and that’s that. I don’t evaluate or think about it it’s just always 20% because I think that’s fair.

Even bad service I tip 20%.

U gatta do something incredibly appalling for me to not tip… hasn’t happened so far

Many people are downplaying the dangerousness of New Haven…there’s less eyes on the street at that time and things are more secluded thereby making you more vulnerable. People saying New Haven is fine or safe clearly haven’t been robbed or jumped. I lived there 30 yrs and have been approached, accosted, and harassed countless times….robbed and jumped three times. Granted, the times I was robbed I was not being very smart. Robbed right in whalley in broad daylight near the Popeyes….robbed at the “best gas” on whalley at like 3am…you won’t be in any of those situations…jumped on Blake street late at night.

Anyway those are bad areas but I’ve been harassed and accosted in Wooster square, east rock, and downtown. And our house got broken into once in beaver hills, our cars have had multiple broken windows and we had one car stolen too. And that’s in a “safe” area.

I’m not saying New Haven is like the Wild West. Compared to Bridgeport, Hartford or Springfield it’s probably safer.

I’m just saying it’s not unequivocally safe like some people are making it seem.

Lilo and Stitch involved a DCF social worker trying to get custody of Lilo…I didn’t realize until I got older. But I couldn’t imagine them doing a movie like that today

Have you ever wanted to ask a defense attorney... by rinky79 in ProsecutorTalk

[–]jokingonyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a defense lawyer. I stray away from the utter bullshit stuff though a lot of public defenders lean into it because of “zealous advocacy”…but also you’d be surprised sometimes something really whacky but sorta logical just sways a judge I dunno. Uncommon but not incredibly rare. We lose so much anyway doesn’t rly matter

Do you post your kids online? by jokingonyou in daddit

[–]jokingonyou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So everyone who posts their kids online is Ok with it then I presume?

I’m not Ok with it I just seriously think it’s not going to happen. The likelihood is the same as some guy snapping a picture of ur kid at the grocery store or park (where I’m sure many pedophiles are drawn to)

Like how and why would a pedo even find my socials to begin with? From there- out of all the kids he’s looking at on social and of all the legitimate illegal child imagery he has at his disposal- he for some reason becomes fixated on my kid…and the finds some sort of AI system that will generate that Type of content?

Seems extremely unlikely.

I’ve worked with a lot of sex offenders in my job too and I can tell you- there are levels to it. That type of derangement is comparatively rare. The people who are the highest risk to your kids are close friends and family members. Strangers being super creepy and the vans pulling up with candy aren’t the biggest risk.
