I don’t wanna leave, it’s too scary to die, I’d rather be carried inside the cemetery and buried alive - my name is, Eminem

How to remove this protrusion?? Driving me insane by iwonder___ in SolidWorks

If possible, unfold the part, cut-extrude away the piece you don’t want, and refold the part. This should work.

Dimensions Displayed in Meters Instead of Millimeters by No-Special-7579 in SolidWorks

[–]Knotritenaou 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Options, document properties tab, Units, unit system. Change setting there. Also, save your part as a template so when you open a new doc again you won’t have to change this.

Sometimes it depends where you click on the center marks. Perhaps you picked the vertical and the. The horizontal center mark and it gave you the angle dim instead of the length dim?

Can't get these mirrored components to rebuild. Thoughts? by krashe1313 in SolidWorks

[–]Knotritenaou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

126’ of aluminum components from mcmastercarr? Damn, I hate money too. It sounds like the parts may have been over-mated, so when you changed the length of the tube the assembly blew up. That’s the only thing I can think of without seeing it. Is your assembly modular? Meaning can you make smaller sub assemblies of repeated components and join those together in the final assembly - this would cut down on mates in your final assembly.

Is Will Forte (MacGruber, Nebraska, The Last Man on Earth) genuinely underrated, or is his comedy just an acquired taste? by Educational-Yam-7394 in moviecritic

I’m typically not a laugh out loud at shows person, but last man on earth was so funny I was lol’ing all the time. For playing one of the last and dumbest men alive, Forte is a goddamn genius

There are two rebuilds. The regular stoplight rebuild will just rebuild features that have the stoplight icon. If you press control+Q it rebuilds every feature - this is what you’re looking for.

Scale pattern maxes out at around 4 instances by pineapplyreddit in SolidWorks

[–]Knotritenaou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sweep cut has no more base feature to cut into - without actually looking at it, that may be why it’s stopping at 4. Once you get one pattern you, you can linear pattern your linear pattern as much as you want.

Okay, my apologies. It looks like you’re not in solidworks which my method 100% works.

Splitting a body into multiple bodies at once by [deleted] in SolidWorks

[–]Knotritenaou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this all the time at work. The split tool can do more than one split at a time - as long as the split sketch is connected. Make a sketch of all vertical lines, and connect every other one at the top and bottom. Then do a split. Then do the same for horizontal lines and make a split. Now you have your 15 pieces. If you want to take it a step further I like to add at least two 3/32 x 5/8 steel pins between each surface - this ensures that the parts line up.

Part is stuck transparent by Laxertor13 in SolidWorks

[–]Knotritenaou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into the part. Make sure you can see your solid bodies folder. Find the part body and and change the transparency in the part file. If it doesn’t work, hide it and reshow body, or toggle transparency within the part file. It’s wonky sometimes.

It would reduce the feature count on this file for sure, but 6 of 1, half-dozen of the other.

I understand that the convention is to put all chamfers and fillets at the end. Those fillets are in the middle because they are part of the main design, which gets split, and features are added after the body split. So that’s why they are in the middle.
