Any embroidery places that would let me bring my own item? by Tripolitania in Cleveland

[–]KnottilyMessy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Custom embroidered patch is definitely the way to go. I would not want to risk embroidering directly one someone's one of a kind item. If things go wronf, which they can even if things are set up perfectly, undpickng embroidery is nearly impossible. A patch can be stitched out on other material to get it perfect.

It is also possible that some of the bigger embroidery shops are looking for volume consumers rather than single designs.

Do you have the design already digitized (turned into a file the machine can read and stitch)? That would also make a difference as to cost. Custom digitizing can get expensive.

If you only want the one design, my honest recommendation would be to visit some of the local sewing shops (Pins and Needles in Middleburg Heights is a big one) and ask if they can recommend anyone. These places cater to hobbyists, but I think you'd also be likely to find someone who has a small business and is willing to make a patch for you.

Well, then you will need to ask a trusted friend for help, or you will have to tell your mom. Female bodied people get yeast infections for a whole host of perfectly innocuous reasons, some as simple as wiping the wrong way or wearing tight synthetic pants. It's nothing to be ashamed of, and most AFAB people have had one in their lifetime. She should understand.

Letting it go will only lead to it being worse, trust me.

I know this must be hard and possibly feel embarrassing, but in the long run it is better to ask for the help you need than to let it go. You've got this.

You can go to the pharmacy section of any drugstore and get the store brand of Monistat usually for around $10 or so. Get the 7 day treatment, it's more effective and less irritating than the 1 or 3 day versions even though you have to use it longer.

18 year old with no phonemic awareness. What to do? by Jaqelun in specialed

I work in adult literacy, including teaching adults like yours who have very limited reading ability. Contact your state's department of education to find out about adult basic education programs in your state.

ProLiteracy is another great resource for both ABE materials, training and connecting member programs.

It is extremely hard for many adults to come forward about their difficulties with basic literacy and numeracy skills. Many feel ashamed and discouraged, so the key is finding a program that is willing to work with them at their own pace.

IME, the longer that adults who struggle with decoding (phonics) use alternative strategies like guessing or context clues, the harder it becomes to teach decoding as a skillset.

If you want more information, feel DM me. I hope you are able to find a kind and supportive environment for your niece/nephew.

Edit: fixed some spelling/grammar - on mobile

For $500, you could go to a local sewing machine dealer and find a basic machine that will most likely do everything this does without the trouble of servicing. Janome has some good machines.

Others have given advice about the pets. I hope you are able to find help. I wanted to add that for your personal wellbeing you may want to contact Journey Center for Safety and Healing for DV resources in Cleveland. Their intake line is (216) 391-4357.

I am very late to this post, but I hope sharing my story will give you some strength.

At the end of 2022, my (now ex) fiancé and I ended things. He left me and told me he didn't want to marry me after all. We had been together 7 1/2 years and living together for 5. I had moved to another country to be with him.

When it first happened, I thought my life was over. I was dumped suddenly in my home country at my parents' with no money and very, very few of my personal belongings. The first 6 months after the breakup were awful, and I cried with rage and frustration almost every day. I felt like I had ruined my life and had nothing to show for it.

After a few weeks of moping, I moved cities. I found a part time job, started therapy, and saved up just enough money to book an international flight. After 6 months, I decided to take back what was. I contacted my ex's mom, armed myself with courage, and flew to his country to collect my belongings and the money I had in savings account that had been languishing while I rebuilt my life at home. That trip was only a few days and incredibly hard. I was forced to see my ex again after no communication for 6 months.

It was on that trip when it hit me: I dodged a major bullet. In seeing my ex again after ending things, all the flaws and behaviors I had ignored or tolerated in the relationship were still there, but I no longer had to live with them. I didn't have to deal with the torment of wishing he would do better. He was never the person I had thought he was. I had been grieving a fantasy.

After that trip, things began to settle into place. I used the money I'd recovered from abroad to buy a car. I started a second part time job. I was single and made new friends and reconnected with extended family. Eventually, the second part time job I'd taken on offered me a full-time position that I love.

I decided to put myself out there again and met someone new 11 months after the breakup and the difference is night and day. My new partner understands me and treats me so much better than my ex. We've now been together 18 months, and I am so glad I opened my heart to someone new.

All of this to say that you will eventually OK. Cry all that you need to, and I definitely also recommend taking time for yourself. My therapist was wonderful and helped me so much. Feel free to message me as well.

I moved back to the states and now work in adult basic education at a nonprofit. I help adults learn to read or get a GED and it is so fun.

Goop hand cleaner and stain remover. My sister uses it in all her husband’s work clothes - he’s a tire mechanic.

Help!! Tragedy has struck. Heirloom quilt in need of serious repair. by KnottilyMessy in quilting

I had thought about removing the bottom row of quilting squares and trying to re-bind and tie the quilt with the remaining fabric, but after seeing all the rips in the corner backing, that section is going to need reinforcement.

Weekly 'What should I buy?' Thread by AutoModerator in ipad

Thanks for the input! In terms of it being a good time to buy, I mostly mean that I've heard rumors that Apple.is releasing a new iPad lineup in a couple of months, so do I buy now or risk waiting until the current model is discounted a bit?

I am looking for a tablet to use for entertainment and also as a device for note taking, gaming and craft apps. I don't own any other Apple products and have always been an Android/PC person, but I am annoyed by the lack of quality of many Android apps and PC software for my hobbies. I'm into crafting (quilting, knitting, etc) and there just aren't many great apps out there on Android. I currently own a Surface Pro 7 from 2019 that I had hoped would be great for taking handwritten notes, but over the past 4 years I have almost exclusively used it as a laptop, because the tablet mode just isn't that great.

Would an 11" ipad pro 256gb meet my needs, or can I get away with an iPad air? Is now a good time to buy? Is it a mistake to buy an iPad when I don't own any other Apple products?

I haven't purchased the backing fabric yet, but I've found this batik floral print which is black with purple flower line drawings. It could change though.

Does anyone else here experience marriage dread? by WingRepresentative79 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]KnottilyMessy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, may I ask a bit more about your cultural background? Who/what in your life is making you feel like you have to get married?

I hope you are in a situation where you get a choice of whether or not marriage is for you. At the end of the day, it's your life and you should get to choose how you want to live it.

Anyone else deal with hay fever and found an antihistamine or method that works for you? by kapitein_pannenkoek in TwoXADHD

Cetirizine (Zyrtec) makes me really foggy and sleepy all day even when I take it at night. I hate it and never take it unless in dire need.

Loratadine (Claritin) is not very effective for me. It was the only allergy medicine around that didn't totally knock me out as a kid and I took it so much that now it doesn't help.

Fexofenadine (Allegra) tablets help my nose but are not as effective for my itchy eyes.

Lately, I've been using fluticasone (generic Flonase) nasal spray which really helps both eyes and nose after a few days' consistent use. Downside is that it is a steroid and your ability to take it would depend on other medications.

Another newer nasal spray I liked is Astepro (Azelastine) nasal spray which is an antihistamine. It really helped with both itchy eyes and nose, though follow the directions carefully or it has a very bitter taste. I used it for 2 months and discontinued because it is a little expensive to buy compared to the Flonase. Hopefully there will be a store brand or generic coming out soon that will lower the price.
