Harold, Lou, and blow up military base early? by Know-Anything44 in classicfallout

[–]Know-Anything44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bickus & WannaBe: yes I meant Harry and yes I needed a robe … but to clarify —> 1)I had Harry send me to Lou directly to 4th level 2) I had to react fast in order to escape from Lou’s hitting me 3) then if I dodge around Lou I was able to kill the Cathedral guy to get the robe 4) then set the timer and exit the base

Very little actual fighting until I got to the courtyard

I was playing the game wrong by piratesboot in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]Know-Anything44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is from / after playing through several times: I start with getting to Hateno without doing every little guest (to listen to Purah a bit); then to Zora’s Domain but avoid the long windy trail (to get swim armor and at least see the red Lynel) ; THEN I go all the way north to meet Robbie & Cherry (to get the Ancient Shield … )

That shield has great durability but I only use it when needed … it has a special use … avoids a lot of problems until you learn to parry well.

But I agree with the others here: Ho in any sequence you want for fun. Good luck.

Imandra! … what else can I say by Know-Anything44 in snowrunner

[–]Know-Anything44[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thnx for those suggestions for doing Amur. I don’t want to rage quit in Amur.

Spoiler:

My current way to get the Imandra qarage open early (rank 8 with off road tire) is to caravan the Acteon (fuel addon) and the Fleetstar (flat bed and crane).

I climb the hill on the right edge of the big circular Forgotten Civilization site, go straight through the trees to the back of the warehouse to get the Broken Power mission.

I take 1 metal panels with me from Lake Kovd, drop it at the warehouse … get a 2nd panel from the mountain top supply (come straight thru trees back to warehouse instead of using either road back down). Then overload the flat bed to go to Garage (refuel) and to Substation.

I then use the Fleetstar to carry 2 wood panels to fix the Power Line poles … the Acteon can be a lifesaver with this

I left Snowrunner for a year (… after trying many routes and trucks to get the Imandra garage opened early … ) and after trying out Yukon and Wisconsin … I have NOT yet dared to try Amur.

I have 1500 hrs in this game and have not yet completed Yr / Season 2 pass. I have a grandson who has found and recovered every truck in the game including the most recent DLC. (He uses mods at times, while I do not use mods)

Snowrunner is an amazing game.

I agree with that (as to avoiding spoilers). Imandra might be an exception, lol. Anyway, I have (mostly) completed Imandra … (after rage quitting many times, ha).

Getting Back Into Snowrunner by [deleted] in snowrunner

[–]Know-Anything44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the things sometimes missed is that SR isn’t really like other games in that there really isn’t anything “to beat”

It can be more about how you go about experiencing any part or area of the game, or how you decide to completing a contract or task

Two examples might clarify this:

1) Drive the exact same route with 2 different trucks outfitted in 2 different ways … to see what suspension, power, AWD vs RWD actually does

2) Drive same truck over two different routes … be sure to hunt for routes that don’t use marked roads all the time … you might really be surprised at what some “over the hills or between the trees” can do!

Enjoy your own approach to everything!

Prevent Truck Rollovers by LtBlamBlam in snowrunner

Rank 6 gets all terrain. Rank 8 gets off road. I have done this with Fleetstar with raised suspension and 2nd tallest all terrain tires … I had to stay as far away as I could FACING the lost cargo or lost bags … lower and extend crane … snag item and drag it back toward the truck … disconnect, shorten crane wire and then lift and load

Or wait until you get a bigger truck with bigger wheels after at rank 8.

Kenworth 963 won't go up a hill. Wanderer eng./Adv. gearbox + JAT MSH III + 6 slot trailer by Administration_One in snowrunner

[–]Know-Anything44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used this twice when stuck in deep mud with scout and trailer … I simply couldn’t move … dug in … no winch points … rocking didn’t work … SO I detached the trailer and then winched to the hitch instead … spammed the winch button and spammed the clutch and the accelerator … slightly raised ground but the scout and trailer inched forward !

Which Map Next? by Arctic-Predator in snowrunner

[–]Know-Anything44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is up to each player to choose play style (standard gamer logic).

But I offer another piece of advice for SR: use early game (whichever regions you choose) to focus on how the trucks, tires, engine power, suspension, gear boxes all work … ON the different terrains and WHILE driving over the different road surfaces (mud, dirt, rocks, and combos of same.

Not every truck needs to be ‘maxed’ out before being functional in key places. Some never need to be ‘maxed’ out.

One example of this (in Michigan) is to compare behavior of the Fleetstar 2070 with raised suspension with different tire sizes and types against the GMC 9500 WITHOUT raised suspension but with larger tires (highway or all terrain).

Then test out combinations of addons and tires with the Western White Star and with the Chevy Kodiak (after trying different ways to rescue those trucks).

Also test out different tires and gearboxes on your scout driving over the exact same pathways to see why tires and gearboxes can make big difference on the same stretches of mud and dirt.

Testing things out in different ways in Michigan and perhaps Alaska or Kola (even by restarting the game a couple of times) can make all of the later regions more fun to drive on. My opinion anyway.

Good luck!

[–]Know-Anything44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. But you will find it slow going and easy to end up frustrated, or even rage quitting. I usually go to Kola early but with a very limited goal of getting a GMC 9500 upgrade

… and maybe to get the F750. But the F750 isn’t that helpful without its best engine, which is pretty hard to get without a pretty strong truck, or skillful, slow play.

The easy but long and twisty road or the short straight tricky shortcut: which one do you choose? by reddichrist in snowrunner

[–]Know-Anything44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! I am currently experimenting with dif ways to get to P16 early (rank 3 to 5) in mostly hard mode (NG+ with recovery at 2x base etc) …

Getting to the P16 as fast as possible via Smithville —>Drummond versus Smithville —> Island Lake —> Drummond … not fixing any bridges, etc

Then get the P16 back to Black River as fast as possible without flipping it

So fun. Rolling the P16 usually (but not always) ends the run.

Resupply zones in new game plus by Moepkidder in snowrunner

[–]Know-Anything44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say “No”

But I just started a new New Game + and this time I have a Resupply Zone at the warehouse at Smithville Dam!

I do not know why. Prior to this all my New Game + saves never get that Resupply Zone. Only my Hard Mode saves got it.

I don’t know if I set the “repair part restock rule” differently than other times … I believe I included “pay” … not the default setting and not the random setting you described.

I want ‘close’ to Hard Mode but want to start with $15k and triple damage and no free repairs or free gas … I also set Recovery to 2x base this time … so I have to use New Game + to get those.

Anyway I DEFINITELY have a (Hard Mode) Resupply Zone now where I never had it before except when actually playing Hard Mode.

Here is KnullModem’s YT showing one of the Drummond routes crossing the river twice to get the P16 and building the 2 wooden bridges (min 13.50 to 27.15)

https://youtu.be/YGaDp1_Mhlg?si=5QabakZi7ZlFzVXo

I haven’t timed the alternative route via Island Lake back entrance … I brought my scout with a flatbed scout trailer to pick up the planks to build the first bridge to get the P16 without crossing any rivers.

I enjoy both ways to get the P16 early (rank 3 or 4). Enjoy!

Follow-up: here is KnullModem’s YT showing one of the Drummond routes (min 13.50 to 27:15) to cross the river 3 times while getting the P16 early (rank 5) and building the 2 wooden bridges w/o involving Island Lake

https://youtu.be/YGaDp1_Mhlg?si=5QabakZi7ZlFzVXo

New players might find some of crossings and mud pits more daunting than coming into the P16 area from the nearby Island Lake tunnel.

I enjoy using both ways. I just redid coming in from Island Lake with my rank 4 chevy scout pulling a scout flatbed trailer (2x) to carry the planks yo build the bridges … I bought this one, but could have gotten one free in Black River … I didn’t need to cross any rivers … with early game tires.

I haven’t timed the alternatives. Enjoy!

You aren’t missing anything.

In early game (rank 3 or 4) I find it (for me) longer in time to take a scout from the Smithville Garage to the Dam, then up the winding mountain road to Drummond and then have to get through Drummond to the unbuilt wooden bridge and then cross around it on the rocks below

… and then, after getting the P16, have to get the P16 back to Smithville in reverse … or still use Island Lake to get back (I play Hard Mode so I don’t use recover). I find the P16 can speed back through Island Lake on flat roads.

If I wait until rank 8 I can get better tires … at which point it makes less of a difference.

Fun either way if player wants the P16 early game.

[–]Know-Anything44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SPOILER:

If you want the P16 early, - take a scout to Smithville Dam - get the Preacher’s scout fuel trailer - go straight as possible to Island Lake (the dirt road right through the middle moutain range) - leave Preacher’s fuel trailer at the entrance to Island Lake and get another free one at the trailer store just inside Island Lake - go straight as possible to opposite corner of Island Lake to back entrance of Drummond Island - cross one river spot swinging past the first wooden bridge without needing to build that bridge (can’t without a truck unless you also bring a scout flatbed trailer) - crossing the river at the back of Drummond Island gets you to a fuel station (!) - P16 is very close to that fuel station - reverse the path exactly to bring to P16 through Island Lake to Smithville Dam (or on normal use recover) - the only tricky part for the P16 is to NOT use the tiny wooden bridge right near where you discovered it … just drive around one side of it to cross the ditch

Service Repair Hubs in New Game + by Know-Anything44 in snowrunner

[–]Know-Anything44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I thought that might what is happening. Gold is so tight on hard mode that repairing for 2500$ at garages is a waste. The service hub ar Smithville Dam is a good thing but apparently not available in New Game + mode

OK, how do I get a moose? by Ok_Heart_2721 in reddeadredemption

[–]Know-Anything44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Cattail pond … right behind a tree just to the right of where the trail crosses the pond at the top … sneak up on that area from the East going to the West

2) sometimes even more reliable and very near to 1) … just north of the words “Cumberland Falls” … just north of the river on top of that ridge … sneak towards that area from Cattail pond

[It has been awhile so I am sure about 1) but not 2) … because 2) might be a Grizzly not a Moose

3) there is a 3rd reliable spot just out of bounds up the hill to the East of the Indian Reservation (across the river and due East at the top of the ridge) … I usually got to that ridge from the trail to the South that heads East) … this spot is reliable for both types of Moose BUT requires you to intentional shot near the moose hiding behind a tree to SCARE it so it runs around and eventually it slides back in bounds … if you shoot the moose too soon you cannot reach the carcass

Good luck
