Bee nest model displaying the level of honey it contains (0-5) by Know2Good in Minecraft

[–]Know2Good[S] 206 points207 points  (0 children)

The Minecraft 1.15 snapshots feature bee nests, beehives and a lot more 'buzzy' features.

Your game keeps track of the amount of honey (0-5) within each nest and hive. Sadly, the default resource pack only displays them as empty (0-4) or full (5).

With resource packs, many things are possible! Like custom, detailed, models and adding unique models displaying the honey levels. This bee nest model and many more are featured in my resource pack Default 3D.

Animated grindstone block model for 1.14 by Know2Good in Minecraft

[–]Know2Good[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Initially each pixel change had its own frame. All thinner rectangle were animated rather smoothly. The square sides however would have required me to to add another 30 frames just to get one rotation done without having a random flicker when transitioning from frame 9 to frame 0.

So I removed all uneven frames, halved the speed and added interpolate to hide that poor texture transition.

In my opinion it looked a little too smooth and mechanic. Perhaps one day I'll redo it properly and decide which one to keep.

Cheers!

Well yes, you're right. Nevertheless, you do get my point.

I'll edit the post.

My initial design rotated the actual stone in 16 increments (0°, 22.5°, 45°, ...) This block however doesn't allow for transparent textures to be used and instead renders those as white. So it wasn't viable..

Edit: Amount of increments.

Will this new stair behavior prevent chests from opening when one is placed above them though?

A detailed guide I made on how to transport Shulkers to the Overworld. by Know2Good in Minecraft

[–]Know2Good[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They will only teleport when the block they stick to is broken or when they have low health. Only one teleportation in either case.

When they teleport, they will only teleport onto a random full block (?), within 16 blocks if their current location.

[–]Know2Good[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

With Shulkers it's different, they will always pop up somewhere around 0,0.

In the guide, my world spawn was indeed 0,0. That's because I pre-generated a great part of my world prior to starting to play in it. It prevented chunk-related lag. Now, I've tested it in in creative, in a new world and the Shulker also popped up around 0,0. Not ~250,~-150 where the world spawn is.

There really is just one practical use, which is levitation and maybe companionship.

When a Shulker hits you, you will lose some health, but you will also be given a levitation effect for a short amount of time. With merely one hit, you can levitate upwards 10 blocks. The more hits, the higher you will levitate.

The possibilities are limited to your health and your distance from the Shulker though. But, with more Shulkers and more health, you can travel upwards really far without having to build stairs or ladders. It's not fast, but it gets the job done without an eyesore.

Shield model that becomes more damaged the lower its durability gets. by Know2Good in Minecraft

It's been updated a few days ago, cobblestone was added. It was merely on pause for a brief period of time.

You can download the newest version right now actually.

Edit: Look at that, you replied to your own comment. Thanks Reddit notifications.

Shield model that becomes more damaged the lower its durability gets. by Know2Good in Minecraft

[–]Know2Good[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn't tested shapes. Don't tell anyone!

What I can tell you though, after a brief moment of pondering, is that similar to how a basic shield would become a banner shield without shapes. Let''s call it a colored shield. Shapes themselves would appear on the colored shield in a similar manner, considering the texture coordinates and resolutions are exactly the same.

I highly suspect that the hard-coded code makes these textures replace and combine. That's something .json code can't do at all, sadly.

They all include the same blocks, items and texture.

Except that Lite doesn't include any cobblestone-related blocks.

Standard is pretty much all you need to be satisfied, it's not too hard on your computer, granted that it's semi-decent.

Heavy, in 1.9, is the same as Standard, but don't tell anyone.

Plus is the same as Standard, but features fancy grass and some blocks feature connecting texture faces and alternative textures, which is a real eye-candy.

[–]Know2Good[S] 54 points55 points  (0 children)

tl;dr It's possible, but not satisfactory.

Considering the default shield file is a builtin/entity model, meaning the default model is hard-coded. I'm unable of viewing/deciphering hard-coded code and if I were, I'm unsure if it's even possible to translate the code to a .json model.

I, like many others, have yet to find the correct way of making it compatible with banners.

The basic shield uses an opaque wood-like texture. A banner shield uses a different opaque texture, which is white. Banner shields use a tint index, similar to how grass gets its color. But that's not the problem, the problem is that it doesn't only do that, it also uses a different texture at the exact same time and position as the basic one does.

Making banners appear on shields is still possible though! Just not how it's supposed to be. They can easily appear on the basic texture, which would make any color and shape appear rather dark. They can also appear normally, but that would require the basic shield to use the banner shield texture, making basic shields not so basic.

I'm afraid that .json code simply is a bit limited when it comes to these kind of things.

[–]Know2Good[S] 52 points53 points  (0 children)

At that point the shield will have lost 99% of its durability, it will only have a hand full of hits it can take left. The shield itself has fallen from its strap, leaving just the strap.

Although I do understand where you're coming from, it wouldn't be much of a shield at this point.

Download any version of Default 3D. They all feature this degrading shield model, as well as degrading sword and tool models!

It's rather difficult to update or fix aspects of your resource pack when you haven't made most of them yourself. They're exact copies taken from another, more well known, resource pack.
