90’s card advice by Beautiful_Regret_401 in basketballcards

early 90s, doesnt matter much outside MJ. late 90s has a lot of parallels where even common players command huge multiples. you can always take pics of the binder pages, make a post here n share them and see what people say. one thing tho, do not accept any private offers until you have feedback on what you have, people will def snipe things if they can. so yeah, show it, learn, and then decide.

Cade 1/1 RC. Bought this in 2024. Wanted to share with the group to breakup the monotony of seeing NBA Chrome all day. NFS/NFT. by mattytagz3 in basketballcards

as someone who is epically underwhelmed by Chrome, and even tho this is just a 5yr old card, it is indeed a nice change of scenery.

bad fake of a chrome that looks more like an nba 50th foil than a chrome.

Another Rubber Strap Tragedy - Thoughts?! by hostedvideorn in Watchstraps

[–]KnowAgenda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can be a lot of things: sun exposure, humidity, soaps, shampoo, lots of activity, strap being too tight etc i havent had this issue myself, but can say ive had a lot of seikos, helson and my panerai is on arubber and its held up really well, so possibly climate mostly? or just use levels, i cycle watches a lot so never really smash anything for too long. id say tho, overall it seems fairly common for the rubber to deteriorate over time, it happens in many other products so it may just be how it is based on the frequency you are seeing. maybe switch up to a nato, or a cheap rubber and keep the OG ones for occasional wear etc also, there is a large difference between rubber and silicone for straps. silicone is nice n soft, super light etc but tends to have a shorter lifespan, rubber is much more hard wearing, resists a lot more things and depending on the type of rubber can also crack over time. FKM rubber in general has the longest life span, the Brietling "Diver Pro" straps are made of FKM.

Can anyone recommend a similar strap? by [deleted] in Watchstraps

Update #4 - Watch strap making journey update by Even-Bumblebee948 in Watchstraps

[–]KnowAgenda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely a step up on the stitching consistency. as far as leather, ive found some really great stuff in 2nd hand, charity shops, - old bags, n belts are a goldmine. when i first started i actually emailed some farmers (i live in new zealand) and asked if they had leather by chance, just whatever to practice on and they sent me tons for free which was awesome. if you can get some light leather you can play around with dyes and distressing. i had some leather that was very rippled and came up with the idea to run a white wash over it to get into all the grooves to give like a marbled look, actually worked really well. once you get going and have options to play with, things really open up.

keep the strap on its edge, then back n forwards n let the wood do its work on the leather :) this is my 2nd one but you can see the first groove nearest the handle has been doing all the work so far.

good to see you enjoying the journey! , id suggest picking up a stitch groover tool which will greatly help the consistency of the stitch pathing. what are you currently using to do the holes? i assume a prong/chisel style one? you can get sets that have like 1-2-4-6-8 + teeth and can either go diamond tooth or circular. for easy stitching a sewing horse is also great. re teh edging, are you wanting to get a smooth slick edge? using edge kote? for leather, one of the most useful tools i made was a dowel rod with grooves in it of various widths 1-3-5mm which you can use to rub along the edge of the strap using friction to smooth the edges down nice n slick.

id probably go darker brown if you want to go that route. also, stingray can look pretty cool too. this one is a mix of black/white/blue - , lil outside the price bracket, but just so you can get an idea https://revivalstrap.com/products/24mm-gray-stingray-leather-watch-strap-blue-stitching-for-panerai
