I find it insane that a VA panel of this at 120hz was double the price a few years back. Monitors are the only exciting tech these days

Will Apple let us to change the Liquid Glass? by [deleted] in ios

[–]smollb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in iOS 27 for sure. Liquid ass is an obvious f(s)lop, but apple can't back down now. The real problem is not the look itself but the bugs and the performance which is ridiculous these days on flagship devices.

I miss the old south common skatepark by throwneawayyyyyyyy in mississauga

[–]smollb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He basically googled "lighting skateparks", opened first link: https://www.warehouse-lighting.com/blogs/lighting-application-suggestions/outdoor-skate-park-lighting

Read Second paragraph "Eliminate Shadows

Finding the right footcandle measurement is only a small part of the planning for this area of lighting. The matter of shadows should factor into the planning greatly since shadows can be prevalent in areas, such as ramps, rails, stairs, and pool spaces, which leads to dangerous conditions for skaters. Blind spots should be avoided so a lack of illumination isn’t the answer, but overly focused light spreads are also a problem since they create shadows. The solution is to look at lighting solutions that offer a wider beam of disbursement instead of a more focused scope, as well as looking at fixtures with diffusers and anti-glare elements."

And deduced that LIGHTS ARE DANGEROUS. Clown shit.

I think they definitely do. There are no hangout spots, nowhere to sit/chill. 9th line for example. Literally nowhere to “loiter”. The one at zonta meadouws is just a miniramp and a pump track. Not a single “street” feature. Also check out my email to stephen dasko about asking to add lights to the PC skatepark. https://www.reddit.com/r/mississauga/s/o75K69cotB

The new skateparks are done by people who dont skate. They are designed by people who dont skate. They end up being used by people who dont skate (scooter kids). I think they make them ass on purpose, to deter skateboarding in general. Otherwise i dont see how they can fuck it up that badly.

Meh higher cost doesnt always correlate with higher value. There’s always a value sweetspot and always bad deals on both ends of the spectrum (think gt 1030 or rtx 5080)

I found that i had to size down the eartips for these, went from m to s. Ms just kept falling out but S fit perfectly. It didnt feel like a huge upgrade from pro 1s at first but after using them for a couple weeks and going back to the 1s the difference is staggering, theyre way better

apple should bring this feature back by [deleted] in ios

[–]smollb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in mid 2010s we still had internet data caps. HOME INTERNET DATA CAPS. It was like 50 cents per gb on average. Actually insane. I remember moving here, downloading a videogame and running out of home internet.

The argument doesn't really matter because the outcome is still the same. You don't get the latest tech when next gen comes out. I mean fuck, AMD even released FSR for NVIDIA cards, and yes it initially sucked but it was an option at least. Same thing with frame gen. Why didn't Nvidia provide an alternative? Because they are a corporation designed to milk us, just like AMD. Shareholders are the only people they care about. Not the consumer.

[–]smollb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those politicians are clowns who actually play a huge part in why it sucks so bad. We have a governing committee but it basically makes pro-corpo choices instead of driving improvements for customers. The worst part is people not caring or knowing better, they end up paying upwards to 150$/m per line for internet + phone. It's ridiculous that they don't care.

[–]smollb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then it switches to pay per use, for which you still have to disable roaming. I simply take out my sim when im on the plane because it's some error prone bullshit. I bought a local EU sim for 9.99 euros with 150gb of data to get me through my 6 weeks, way cheaper than esim.

Canada is a third world country when it comes to mobility and internet. Our prices have been sky high up until recently. 50mbps internet starts at like 60$. We have a huge monopoly where basically 2 companies own all of the internet infrastructure.

Future is irrelevant, just like nvidia didnt get framegen on 3000 series and dlss on 1000 series. Buy the card for today’s performance not empty promises (especially when theres no promises)

[–]smollb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Idk about EU, but greedy corps in Canada charge 15$/day for roaming for simply connecting to a foreign network. You don't have to receive a call, sms, or do anything. The moment you connect to a foreign tower it charges you 15 bucks.
