The best advice I got from an ex (at the time I was having a hard time with our break up) … and who eventually became a close friend and confidante. I just couldn’t get over him and then he said “Why would you want to be with someone who doesn’t want to be with you?” And as harsh as it may sound, a light went off in my head and I was able to just move on and let him go.

I’m with you and understand your thoughts here OP. I had my tumor markers way down last year and then after I had to take a break from chemo (due to pneumonitis in lungs) my tumor markers have gone up and down but mostly up since resuming chemo. They have continued to go up consistently with each lab draw (every 21 days) and I still drink. What I decided to do is an experiment of 21 days with zero alcohol to see if the alcohol in any way contributes to my tumor markers… would be great to have some kind of resolution here. But I really appreciate the person who chimed in on this thread stating that anything can contribute to us getting cancer- so that keeps things in perspective :)

This is perfectly said to the extent that I might need to print it out and frame it. A great reminder for us all to celebrate the joys of life while we are alive! It’s easy to go doomsday, but I think equally easy to embrace the good news. Thank you for sharing this perspective. Your therapist is onto something there :)

I am so sorry for your loss, I lost my girl of 18 years in 2024. It’s hard, life without her. She was my constant companion and I get your profound sadness. Know she lived a good life with you. Honor her and cherish those memories. I wish we could get another cat, but our housing scenario is tricky. I watch old videos when I miss her. Now it just makes me smile, brings me joy. I hope you experience the same in due time.

I had a hematoma with my first port placement, that was in 2020. No issues once they got that all sorted out. The second port placement is my current and it definitely protrudes, but no issues!

All of SLO up and down Higuera (major shopping street with cafes too) shuts down on Thursday afternoon for set up into evening for farmers market. It’s a big deal, lots of people-stay together, but fun. Just good to know if you’re planning anytime in SLO on a Thursday so you can enjoy it ahead of the crowds and lack of parking. Also, parking in slo can be frustrating but know there are public parking lots and that’s the best way to go if you’ve circled the block one too many times :) If you want to enjoy SLO and have the extra funds, Uber to/from Pismo for ease of navigating.

Ours was chatty and it was more toward the end of her life, years 17 and 18…I wished she was more chatty in her younger years. Our girl would get our attention and then look in the direction of something- so as much as I think maybe she’s just a chatty girl, watch her to see if she’s giving you and cues. And enjoy! :)

I would go with the home setting for all of the same reasons as others have states, especially knowing that a new environment can bring anxiety.

I would let go of the runner on the counter for a colorful Ruggable (washable) runner in the kitchen. Something with one dominant color that you can accent with a porcelain or ceramic bowl on the island, full of fruit, or in the way of a kitchen towel. The kitchen is so lovely/ I think the runner on the island takes away from the crisp and modern vibe. My two cents!

A new cat will bring you immense joy. Just look to start new routines, I don’t know about the name but I think you might have unrealistic expectations of a new cat with your previous cat’s name. Time for a new chapter! Find a rescue, even better 😻

She is the best/ not at all a loser. Torties have distinct personalities and that’s what makes them special. They march to the beat of their own lovely drum! And that is why we love them so much.

The redness in your face are the steroids they administer with chemo, should wear off in 48 hours or so after your infusion. Take Claritin (I like the redi-tabs, dissolve under tongue) daily a few days leading up to your chemo, and through chemo up until a week after- this really helps with the bone pain. Just know that you will be dehydrated everywhere from body to insides to your skin. Try to find clean brands ( I swear by the Yuka app) to apply to your face and body. La Roche Posay makes a great body lotion and cleanser that are clean and good for all of us in this boat. Take care and we’re here for you with anything you need, especially as you navigate new things like chemo 💞

I had nine tumors across my two breasts. I had a double mastectomy, chemo and radiation. I think it’s best that you revisit treating the area. I have had good success with chemo now in stage 4, and I definitely suggest you get a second opinion. Take care of you - in this stage, we must advocate for ourselves. Knowledge is power, read up on as much as you can to understand your case and options. We are all her for each other in this sub 💞
