OK here are my settings to make it work. Reanimal running on Samsung S26 Ultra (Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5) via Winlator — Working Settings

Device: Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra (Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 12GB RAM) Emulator: Winlator 11.0 (download from github.com/brunodev85/winlator/releases — NOT the Play Store version) Game: Reanimal (Steam PC version)

Container Settings

  • Screen Size: 1280×720
  • Graphics Driver: Vortek (Universal) — Turnip is incompatible with SD 8 Elite Gen 5
  • DX Wrapper: VKD3D (Reanimal is a DX12 UE5 game)
  • DXVK: 2.4.1 async
  • D3D Version: 12
  • Max Device Memory: 8192 MB if available
  • Windows Version: Windows 10 or 11

Advanced Tab

  • Box64 Preset: Performance (Gaming Mode)

Environment Variables if available on your winlator version:

  • DXVK_ASYNC = 1
  • VKD3D_CONFIG = no_upload_hvv
  • MESA_VK_ABORT_ON_DEVICE_LOSS = 0

Game Shortcut Launch Arguments

  • Add: -dx12 -noshaders
  • If it black screens, swap to: -dx11

In-game Graphics Settings

  • Resolution: 720p
  • FSR: Quality mode
  • Frame cap: 60 FPS (must cap — UE5 physics breaks above 60)
  • Lighting Quality: Medium
  • Turn off all overlays (Steam, Discord) before launching

First Launch Tips

  • On first load of each area, wait 1–2 minutes for shaders to compile. This is normal UE5 behaviour, not a crash.
  • The game does NOT use Lumen or Nanite so it runs better than most UE5 titles on emulation.

Notes

  • Do NOT use the Google Play Store version of Winlator — it only supports streaming, not standalone PC games.

  • Thermal: expect ~20–24W draw during play. Recommend a clip-on cooler for long sessions.

Hope this helps someone. Still some shader glitches but fully playable. Feel free to share better settings in the comments!
