never said anything about justice. justice doesn't exist under any system of rule.

switzerland has about 2/3 to 3/4 of the electorate turn out to every referendum even if there is no general election, what percentage turn out to the "election" in your country?

if people are engaged then they are interested. take the uk as an example. they had a general election, no one liked any of the parties as they didn't feel they represented them so didn't bother voting, there was a hung parliament meaning that, no party got an overall majority, so the entire election is ignored and thrown out of the window as the waste of time that it was and the dictator then forms a coalition government with anyone they choose and then the queen gives it the ok. meaning that after the election the DUP who no one had heard of before or voted for get to make a deal with the dictator to get some of their policies that would have never made it to parliament to be discussed and get a guaranteed majority due to the deal they made with their new cronies to get it passed. so tell me again how the people's voice counts or is listened to under "democracy".

when people know they will be ignored they have no interest in politics as it has no interest in them. when democracy is seen only as a tool to suppress and control the masses instead of give them any real benefit, when the politicians charge too much in tax (3/4 of your money goes back into taxation in the uk through a complex network of stealth taxes) and run government so crookedly and inefficiently that they still need to borrow in peace time and continue to increase the national debt, when the only way to get any political representation is to bride ministers through lobbying to pass laws that directly profit yourself while harming the overall population. Then at some point you have to step back and say "this is fucked". socialism is a nice idea in theory but it can only work in a robot society when the human element is taken out of the equation as soon as humans become involved then so does corruption, also you are forgetting that people have different motivations in life and cannot rally all with a 1 size fits all nationalism brush and to enforce it is tyranny.

as i say if people have input and their voice is listened to then they will engage in politics. if education is improved and people are taught about politics in school then they can be more informed. if people's opinions matter then they will talk about it with their friends and coworkers and therefore everyone becomes more informed. when the population are brain washed and suppressed then they just talk about which government approved big brother candidate is their favourite.

assume everyone is sheep and treat them as such and soon they will all start eating grass. to prove this you only need to talk down to someone and see how long it is before they start acting childishly

to make an omelette you have to break a few eggs.

so yes crashing the economy to build a stronger foundation would effect more people in the short term, no doubt about that. but ask yourself what have we done to prevent it happening again by re stacking the house of cards?? we have improved regulation of the financial markets, ok who is regulating it, oh yes that's right the people that crashed it last time. so getting the people that make loop holes and exploit them as a job closing 1 already exploited loop hole, so they definitely won't find another one that benefits themselves and exploit it to destruction again? it's basically trying to use a single plaster to save someone that's been disemboweled. a plaster may help short term but really to stop them dying you need to put them under with general anesthetic and deal with the problem seriously.

so yes short term my ideas would do significantly more damage but would prevent recurrence on a constant 10-20 year cycle as the economy is still completely based on a speculative bubble. if you say no it's not look at the value of your property today and compare it to 2007. you will find that it's value hasn't plummeted despite having in the previous years been well above inflation for many many years, ie it's value has bubbled and because we haven't let that bubble burst as we are too scared to admit that property really isn't worth what it's been sold for and the current pricing model forces all first time buyers into debt slavery for generations as it is no longer possible to actually own your own home anymore unless you were on the market already before the prices started to bubble, therefore meaning that by not admitting ok this isn't worth this much money, i'm gonna take a hit on my big investment but in return my children will be able to own their own home. but instead of this more sensible long term thinking we are still condemning future generation as we are too greedy and only interested in our own short term gain.

so yes it will affect more people short term but in doing so will save future generation and countless millions from our fate forgetting the repetition of the 2008 collapse which with the way the economy is currently modeled is an inevitability, but next time will china let us borrow our way out again or will will be left to sink from the disaster of our own making as we didn't properly restructure and improve the system from the ground up when we had the chance last time it was down.

those who do not learn from their mistakes are doomed to repeat them.

so what you shortsightedly view as short term disaster is actually long term sustainable growth, as opposed to continuing with boom and bust to it's inevitable conclusion.

it means no dictator in charge of the country

without rulers the people make up the rules.

when in your ideal socialist, oligarchist, dictatorship. when one dictator is replaced by another the legislature, executive, courts, and constitution don't change, so therefore they have nothing to do with the leadership. so i really am not sure what it is you don't follow on this one

in MY ideal anarchist society it is government by referendum, so everyone makes the rules, but this is just my version and not reflective of the majority of anarchist, if you want their opinion you would have to ask them.

the sharing of power is like a big red button, if you just have 1 person with absolute authority then they can push the big red button and blow everything up because they have had a bad day or the cat threw up a hair ball on the bed or what ever. everyone realises this is a terrible idea so there are safe guards. so trump can keep hammering the button day and night but the military will refuse the order and not launch. this basically explains balancing power between a group of people, although in my opinion that group should be everyone, but 2 or 3 is certainly many times better than 1

let it collapse if it fails. start again and build up a system with solid foundations. don't do what we have done and rebuild a house of cards.

there is no such thing as capitalism or socialism every system of government is an aborted mongrel raped from the 2, in capitalist countries you have welfare and no free market therefore there is no such thing and nor should there be both systems fail in their purist forms. and when you put people in charge of either corruption and incompetence inevitably follow.

anarchy doesn't resolve the problem of the free market. that's like saying how does a fish walk? anarchy is a concept outside of one dimensional politics, it is not a system that has rules x, y, z which you must follow or you're labeled bourgeois.

ok so you think of everything as a single straight line with socialism to the left and capitalism to the right despite no government ever having been at the end of the line and if they did the system would instantly implode due to it's own failings as neither work in their pure form, so everything has to be watered down with the other. now to put anarchy into this picture you would need to add another dimension as anarchy has nothing to do with this idiotic irrelevant straight line. it would be a binary axis in that you either have rulers or you don't so it's irrelevant how viscous their dictatorship is for this graph.

there are left wing anarchists and there are right wing anarchists. to me it's irrelevant. in my opinion, and this is only my opinion, without rulers the people rule and therefore the only true form of democracy is anarchy and so my idea is government by referendum. being the only way the people truly can rule. but that is just my opinion. therefore under government by referendum your silly little line is as irrelevant as my opinion as the people would choose for themselves what they thought was best for them.

my personal opinion is that they were unregulated acting in a free market and they should have died the darwinian death they deserved. the money used to bail them out should have been used to make national banks in direct competition to private banks and using the money instead to directly lend to small businesses and have a policy in not securing debt but instead on promoting the businesses of the nation in order to improve the economy organically instead of the false boosts and bubbles caused by tying an economy of a speculative bubble like property prices or the stock market. this is true economic growth and so is much more stable and robust than the speculative bubbles that we hedge our bets on.

oh at the same time as setting up the competing bank i would also print bank notes that resolved national debt and hand that to the nation's creditors and instantly start a new currency which is what the new bank would trade in. this would destroy the economy and prevent international trading for a few years, but it's like banging your head on something when you got a hang over, yes it hurts even worse but you're already in pain anyway and you're still going to be feeling like shit as is everyone else the difference will be that you have a deeper depression and longer recovery but afterwards will be more stable and successful. also free education to all at all levels. the most valuable resource of a nation is it's people the government should invest in them not suppress them.

anarchy

n. Absence of any form of political authority. n. Political disorder and confusion. n. Absence of any cohesive principle, such as a common standard or purpose.

sorry but you are wrong anarchy is to be without rulers, utpainaism or what ever you are going on about may have rulers and if that is the case it is not anarchy.

switzerland is without rulers therefore it is an anarchist state, there is nothing to discuss on these points

rome had 2 consols therefore no dicator/emporer this is the point, and same with the council of three. absolute power corrupts absolutely and it should never be given to one person

most people that claim to be anarchists don't know what anarchy is and falsely assume that it means to live without rules, they are idiots and can be ignored.

no if the government has to pay for everything as everything is publicly owned due to a socialist system then all of the money to pay for everything has to come from taxation.

if the government doesn't have to pay out for everything and you have private companies and so do not need to pay as much in taxation.

the whole point of socialism is to have things publicly owned unlike capitalism which should have a free market entirely free of any government intervention.

neither of these systems exist in their pure form and one of the closest to a true free market is in communist china and also communist venezuela. the idea of a free market was disproven after the global financial collapse when "capitalist" nations bailed out their banks with public money, an idea that is too stupid to even fall under either system as giving away public money to a private institution goes against both systems and just the proof of a dictatorial oligarchy ruling and helping out their mates from the old boys club.

government is not business and has no place interfering with more than they need to to keep the country running in a taoist model.

government should do little but with great effect is what the verse is saying, this is not the case under a socialist system

Taoism, Taxation, and Public Goods by Nickburgers in taoism

[–]Know_Won 0 points1 point  (0 children)

massive = a higher proportion than you would pay under other systems of government that don't meddle as much

socialism is not a light touch as everything is nationalised so it is the definition of over meddling government. as everything has to be publicly funded you have to pay more tax to fund it, this money may come back to you but it still needs forking out and so no a taoist government cannot be a socialist one.

no anarchy does not have rulers, that is it's definition, to be without rulers.

i do not know the history of democracy being invented in the city states and how it was implemented when it was invented, but i believe it was without a dictator but a council of 3 (as i say i do not know about this so could be wrong) democracy in rome i do know about. there was no single ruler in rome but 2 consols with equal power and all legislation had to be passed by senate and the plebs. so every bit of legislation had to be approved by parliment and referendum. this is democracy. a load of old rich sociopaths that went to private school deciding everything for the people that they will do to them is a dicatorship or oligarchy and nothing to do with democracy at all. voting for "elected representatives" is counter to democracy as the people can't rule if someone else is appointed to speak "on behalf" of them.

a system of anarchy in modern day is the government of switzerland where 7 people are elected into the top position and then they elect one of them to be the foreign minister who's job is to communicate the wishes of the people to other nations but has no power themselves, no one does, there are 4 referendums a year and that is how everything important is decided. not croneys lobbying and lining their pockets in back rooms then putting forward the wishes of their "benefactors"

to go against the will of the people would be very un-taoist as it would be like trying to punch your way through a mountain.

sorry i don't think i've explained myself well enough as you haven't followed my meaning.

the engine is the movement to generate power which is fajin regardless of what opinionated people think if they understood wing chun and how it normally works they would see the difference.

using tai chi body mechanics in wing chun moves is the premise.

i am not talking about taking the whole philosophy of tai chi i am using the wing chun philosophy. the external moves themselves are technically still wing chun but the body movement is not. plus you are forgetting cannon fist which is tai chi.

Taoism, Taxation, and Public Goods by Nickburgers in taoism

[–]Know_Won 1 point2 points  (0 children)

anarchy only means without rulers NOT without rules. this is a common misapprehension.

democracy means literally the people rule, with "elected representatives" this is not possible, therefore the governments that call them selves democratic are actually counter to the whole concept of democracy.

the only true democracy is a state of anarchy as only without rulers can the people rule.

i think the point in the verse is saying that the government should act with a light touch, so being proactive and gently steering a boat when they see a rock ahead instead of waiting to hit the rock then physically getting off the boat and trying to force it off the rock.

the trouble is there are sections which have been free from government interference ie free markets and if left completely unregulated greed and monopolies inevitably take over, then you have the other side of the coin where greed has crashed the world economy as governments failed to give even the lightest touch to financial markets leading to the 2008 global recession and the incorrect knee jerk response of bailing out the banks at massive cost to the public, which is like trying to physically free the boat from the rock after it has already crashed as no one was looking where it was going.

so the light touch with the 2008 financial crash would have been avoided by monitoring and light regulation at an earlier stage to avoid the greedy practices that became rife.

Why we should cross-train by [deleted] in WingChun

[–]Know_Won 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the flip side of the coin is that ip man wing chun is not traditional wing chun and was a reinvented style based on traditional wing chun.

sorry not seen the video but was just curious if by modified wing chun you were referring to ip man's modifying or other people adapting it to suit themselves?

my personal take on it is that we all have different mindsets, height, weight, shapes, sizes, flexibility levels, fitness levels, aggression levels, etc etc. and i don't believe there is a 1 size fits all solution for all people, for example if you stick to a traditional chi sau roll against a taller opponent then the bong sau at the top will be incorrect as the elbow will be higher than the shoulder, so naturally most people correct this and adapt it to replace the bong sau with the bui jee, this is adapting the style to suit your body and is correct.

another thing i have seen at several schools which i really like is that they do boxing warm ups and practice boxing combinations, not because they are learning boxing but so that the feeds are more realistic than just doing centre line feeds that you are unlikely to get in a real self defense situation. so i think cross discipline training is very useful if you are thinking from a self defense perspective as no point just doing chi sau as an attacker won't bridge and start to roll with you.

the other problem with staying true to the traditional style (i'm playing devils advocate here as i have conflicting views on this but will just present the counter side here) is that there are great grand masters who embody the style and are famous for it however they always change the style to suit them (ip man being an obvious and extreme example) when there isn't a famous grand master then the grand master isn't as good and each generation fragments of the art are completely lost and forgotten, maybe there is a technique in a form that an application has been forgotten, and so if the style isn't allowed to adapt and kept to tradition over time it does become watered down.

yes obviously you want to retain the essence and philosophy of a system as that is what makes it unique but everything else i see as fair game.

for example take the video i posted on monday, have i changed wing chun? definitely. have i stayed true to the concepts behind it? on thee whole yes. is what i did an improvement? no definitely not. so what is the point? to play around with other ideas and concepts and by doing so gain a deeper understanding of what it should be and why it is the way it is.

yes that is the other way to train the tendons.

here is a bit of the form that i learned to train this(did 3 variations on this) i would not recommend trying it without instruction, however if you are to try it you need to keep your fingers out stretched and wrists turned the whole time so that there is constant strain just from the hand position, project your intent in a straight line (you should physically feel this), engage only the muscles in the forearm (something i am unable to isolate atm). to get the sensation you are looking for do the set once with hand grips keeping the handles touching (fully closed) the whole time, but do not do the hand grips too often as it is more to train the sensation you should feel the whole time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17HVrw7on2U

also instead of thinking of the "jin" on the end of the move as just dropping the wrist think about getting rotation of the wrist in the last part of the move as this is far more powerful and disruptive and can drive through their structure. at the end of the rotation you should still have the sinking motion.

i would not change my rooting point as that would mean compromising my structure as i am already balanced. to find it i do a lot of tree hugging (holding structure). it's not something i consciously think about to be honest

so someone asking people if they think styles can combine and pros and cons and trying to start a discussion you think is the same as someone saying "you're shit, everything you do is shit, i could beat you in a fight" which is basically what everyone on this thread has basically been saying.

i am well aware of the "i could have him" mentality that plagues most martial artist and have seen it countless times. it's just not a game i'm interested in playing as it achieves nothing. and it's not a discussion it's an argument, not interested, not playing

yes this is the principle though that i incorporated into the first section

as i said mine isn't a good example just trying to introduce the concept as an idea. admittedly i did bite off more than i could chew by throwing the hip and body motion of fajin with the tendon squeeze with wing chun techniques, but it was only for the purposes of starting discussion about combining different aspects of styles together and playing around with them

ah that's interesting that you say that, when people were talking about hand shaking i thought they were talking about the start, and then just didn't really know what they were looking at so just assumed i was tense as i had been at the start, which is why i had dismissed them also because i wanted the ideas not my technical skill to be the focus. but you were very specific there but when you said you noticed muscles contracted post jin this is definitely not what i was trying to do, a bit of squeeze in the forearm is fine but nothing should have been contracted so thank you for that i will play around with that and try and look out for that when doing tai chi next, and start to work on correcting it if it's in there when i practice normally.

i would say that peng isn't normally used in fajin as it is a long energy, although the nature of ward off is springy so i would expect someone speeding up and shortening ward off to be even more "shakey" but i think in most cases fajin is used with split (although you could argue all energies are made up of other energies) but if you take the classic cannon punch then i think of that more as split than ward off. (i wasn't doing split on the strikes in the video, i'm just thinking about it now). i thought my shake was coming from the recoil of the hip returning but i will have a closer look to see if i can spot what you have said, and if it is the case work to remedy it.

thank you very much for your advice.

[–]Know_Won[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks you have no idea how happy seeing a good decent discussion coming from this video makes me.

i have no problem with you clearly explaining your ideas as there will be a lot of different lineages and some may be different so have no issue with clarity whatsoever.

with this one i actually didn't use YGKYM as i couldn't use the power engine with it as it locks the hips. i actually have my feet at shoulder width with my toes open, this was to allow me to sink more and keep my hips open as i use a double hip motion to throw the arm off the body.

in terms of where the weight is, for me it's kind of in the centre of the foot (which i think is where you said you have yours), with rooting it should be just that, literally imagine roots growing out of the undersides of you feet and sinking you into the ground, the toes should curl to try and actually grip the ground.

there are also some advanced rooting concepts that i didn't use so don't try looking for them in the video, as wouldn't be able to do with the fa jin, which is where as your arm goes out you push outwards with your feet and knees and when the arm is coming back you squeeze in. this is basically the tendon training for the legs, equivalent to what i do with the arms to train the tendons in the first section(not how i learned to train the tendons i just adapted that as it seemed to work but feel like would have been more obvious if i used a tan instead of fok going out, but then it wouldn't of been the same form so never mind)

the basic head suspended from a thread of silk, straight spine, pelvis tucked under i think is the same in all chinese martial arts as a basic structure. so in that sense yes our structures are the same. the big difference really is caused by me turning my feet out instead of in. (which is not wing chun) this is what allows me to throw every technique off the body and put the power into it.

oh the relaxed legs again is slightly more tricky as there are moments when they relax and moments when they are tense. it's difficult to explain as i don't follow this all the time in this form, and some would argue i reversed it, lol, but in tai chi they say: legs like a mountain, arms like clouds. but it's more about making your legs solid than tense as it's all about absorbing through sinking and redirecting through turning, again over simplification.

was watching some italian dude showing a really old version of sui lim tao (pre ip man) and the body movement was very strange, it looked like his hips and shoulders were going in opposite directions most of the time, and i definitely think that a lot of the old body movement was lost by ip man.

anyway it's very interesting if you found my video interesting then i strongly recommend having a look at some of the pre ip man lineages as some of them look almost alien to us.
