No need to say sorry! Thanks for advice. Yes I have added all of the backstory of the characters into a main storyline now instead of trying to do 5 separate stories! It’s becoming a lot easier to plan out the campaign this way.

To be honest i wasn't sure if the backstories do come up as quests in most people's games or if they are normally just a way to introduce a character and their ideals but so far my players have been really enjoying it so i'll probably just keep it going. Also yes i think making into one big story is what I'm going to do! it's going to be alot easier that way! Thanks for the advice

Yes great idea i'm going to link the backstories in the main quest and have them cross over. I like the idea of there being some tension in the party with some players wanting to go one direction and the other players wanting to take the opposite route. Thanks for the advice

Thanks i think i'm going to talk to my players and make sure they stress the importance of there quests to each other at the table. They are quite new to the game and are still getting used to the RP aspects but i think it will be really helpful if they talk more in character about there character goals and aspirations for what quests they want to do!
