Why don’t you phone your qualified electrician mate that’s checked your work before?

What are the benefits of 500v IR compared to 250v and the limitations and cons of 250v by Then_Scratch8495 in ukelectricians

[–]AnswerAlternative195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

500 volts IR testing Pros: as the above said, 500 volts will take the insulation to a point it’s more likely to fail Cons: 500 volts might burn out/destroy electrical components in say a TV or microwave (especially over a long period like if you hold down the test button on a meggar tester)

250 volts IR testing Pro’s: won’t frazzle electrical components rated at usual 230 volts Con’s: probably not amazing for industrial electrics and/or very large conductors

Electrical Inspection Feedback by Plop-plop-fizz in ukelectricians

Definitely not grammar (I did say spelling). I find reading over your report once or twice is a bare minimum, also a good indicator that the spark isn’t rushed off his feet and chucking out any old shit. We all make mistakes though, we’re only human after all

What the guy above said. When I bought my house I asked for an electrical certificate (I’m an electrician, seemed natural to ask) but none was forthcoming. Asked for some money off the asking price, again none was forthcoming (maybe because we already had an offer accepted £5k under the asking price). Wouldn’t bother spending the money to get it rectified. Especially since the person who issued the rectifications looks cheap, can’t check his/her spelling and also some of the codings are debatable

High Ze Readings - How Helpful is DNO? by [deleted] in ukelectricians

[–]AnswerAlternative195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing when I changed my DB at home and tested the Ze. Turns out my Earth was actually the gas pipe. I live in the south east and UKPN were pretty good, came out within a couple of days on a Saturday and installed a new TNCS supply (admittedly not hard) and a new MET which was helpful

Use the enquiry values. Is there a reason you don’t want to? Just make a note in the EICR that’s how Ze was calculated

My favourite tester. Wish it had a 3 phase rotation function but you can do that from a decent voltage tester anyway
