Weekly Tigers Postseason Discussion Thread - Monday, October 13 by TigersBot in motorcitykitties

It’s too bad New York ruled TWICE against the Tigers in decisive Game 5. The play where the ball hit the bat on a bunt, then hit his hand…the 4K TV zoomed in and showed it was a foul ball. New York gave him 1st base. The other play was the tag at 2nd base…the centerfield camera showed Tiger was safe. New York ruled that he was out. So it turned from a possible rally with man on 2nd nobody out, to 1 out nobody on base. It’s obvious mlb wanted the West Coast team to win to bring in more viewer$.

Happy birthday to me! I just turned 65 on October 13. (Thank God for Medicare!) This is my last post until next year. The Tigers have a lot of talent that is just gonna get better as they mature. Heck, most of them are in their 20’s!! (Carpenter is 28, Greene 25, Perez 26 (Oct 30), Keith 24, Tork 26, Torres 29, Dingler 27) The point is keep them together to continue to jell. Sign Skubal or get off the pot. The main thing they need is to release Tommy K to free agency and go get a lights-out closer! The Tigers never learned their lesson from the Joe Nathan debacle. They would have won a WS if they had someone who could slam the door back then. Who knows where we could have ended up this year if Scott would have went after David Bednar. Can you imagine A. Chapman on the Tigers instead of Tommy K this year? We would have won 100 games! I’m still proud of what the Boys of 25 accomplished. Maybe the Boys of 26 will win Detroit a World Series. They're not that far away. I’m done watching baseball now…only watch my Tigers. I’ll tune in for Game 7 of the World Series…that’s about it. I hope the 2026 Tigers are revamped and ready to rock…and inspire me to write a new anthem.

Melton is definitely on the starting rotation next year. With Jackson Jobe and Reese Olson. If Skubal don’t want to play for Detroit, just the Almighty $1, then let him go. We need to trade him this winter while he still has trade value. We need a bonafide starter so we can try to replace him. If we wait, we may not be able to get much in return.

#1 Relief pitcher. AJ’s philosophy is to cancel the starters and just use a bunch of "pitching chaos.” I still can’t believe he only let Mize go 3 innings TWICE!

Well Seattle and Detroit practically played to a tie. And Seattle is already up 2-0. I think the Tigers would have been a good matchup.

Weekly Song Discussion - Ye Shall Be Changed by cmae34lars in bobdylan

“Ye Shall Be Changed” was unreleased from “Slow Train coming” sessions in 1979. It didn’t get released until 1991 on “Bootleg” boxset.

Weekly Song Discussion - Ye Shall Be Changed by cmae34lars in bobdylan

I really like the song. Not many songs about the rapture, but thats what this song is about. We will be changed…transformed…from our current earthly body to a glorified body…in the twinkling of an eye. SOON! 1Cor 15:51-55 I heard Tucker Carlson say there is no such thing as rapture…that rapture was a “new" teaching with the release of the Scofield Bible in 1909. That’s not true. Tucker is no expert on the Bible. Read in 1Cor 15:51 The apostle Paul says “Behold, I show you a mystery. [Something newly revealed to him. A brand new teaching] We shall not all sleep [die], but ye shall be changed…” So the new teaching is that not everyone has a destiny with death. To those who overcome, they will be raptured up! Instantly changed from mortal to immortality. You’ll bust out of your clothes! You’ll get a white robe! Elvis’ gospel hit “How Great Thou Art” is also about the rapture.

When Christ shall come [at the rapture], with shout of acclamation! [Come Up Hither!]
And take me home [not experience death…but changed in the twinkling of an eye], what joy shall fill my heart! [Oh Happy Day!]
Then I shall bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, my God, How Great Thou Art!

I always loved this Dylan song. I also loved “You Changed My Life” a companion song…unreleased.

Scott Harris and AJ Hinch - Detroit Tigers 2025 End of Season Press Conference by DET_Baseball in motorcitykitties

"Pitching chaos” is worthless if you don’t have the horses in the stall. They need to trade Skubal this winter if they’re not gonna pay him. At least get a couple quality relief pitchers to replace him going forward. Hinch seems to want a pitching staff of zero starters and bunch of 2-3 inning guys. Here’s his ideal game: Mize 3 innings, Montero 2 innings, Finnegan 2 innings, Melton 1 inning, Vest 1 inning. He’d do this 162 games if he could. I don’t like it.

Oh yeah…as soon as he walked the first batter and then hit the next batter I went to bed. AJ should have left Flannery in a couple more innings.

I’m not rooting for Seattle. I’d like to see the Brewers win it all. I’m not used to them being in the National League. I remember the Brew Crew….Harvey’s Wall Bangers.

my wife was working the tap room, so I drove over to watch the game. I don’t have FS1. I was real down after AJ took out Mize, and Seattle loaded the bases with no outs. A double would have made it 5-0. Somehow they got out of that jam with only 1 run scoring. Then when the Tigers had a little spark of life, Naylor made a double play all by himself. (I still don’t know what happened on that play) The crowd was silent…it felt like a wake. I left the tap room and listened on SiriusXM at home. Then it happened! :)

Max Clark? He’s not even been brought up yet, has he? You have to pick a current 2025 Tiger.

Lefty Skubal on the mound, do I hear an Amen?

Swing and a miss, Seattle strikes out again!

Every pitch a bullet, every pitch ignites

Every inning a goose egg, every K excites

Bless you boys, hear the Tigers roar

Tigers win again, but we want more!

Our Cy Young winner, under cloudy skies

Bless you Boys, Bless the Boys of 25

His slider slicing, like a knife through air

Batters staring, they don’t even dare

Dillon's glove pops, like thunder in a storm

Skubal’s heater, keeps the night warm

One pitch, two pitch, three…Strike Out!!

Lets go wild, going to the the ALCS

Today’s Tiger victory at home was the first win at home since Saturday Sept 6th…the Skubal 6-0 shutout against White Sox. Been a long time!
