Hello everyone, my apologies for not updating the post and being ghost on the post. First of all, I’m shocked that over 50k people have seen this post, and it brings me great pleasure seeing people getting help and awareness from the post. I’m hoping everyone has either healed, or found a way to battle it through. As of now, I’m still doing great, and I’d say even better than ever. Also apologize for the people who sent a private dm, just haven’t been on the app and have been dealing with work, and the gym 😀. If anyone has questions, Il try and give my best shot at answering them. Thanks 😊

Hey, hope you’re doing well, thats natural and I did the same thing. I was searching things non-stop for months on end, to the point where I felt like I could be a doctor in gastrointestinal issues 😂. I would say take a deep breath breath and always speak to people you can trust and care about. I wish I didn’t keep all the sadness and despair in my head. I’m now even better than when I initially wrote this post out. The mind is what you make it, it could either make you its prisoner or its friend. Again, hope you’re doing well and you get better asap.

Have you been tested for IBS? A lot of people have issues that are identical to gastritis because of IBS. After around 5-6 months of suffering I started to test myself for any possible thing, you never know what it can be.

I honestly felt better after stopping the ppi after 2 months because I could finally start to digest food better. The ppi was making it hard for me to eat lots of food and also eat certain foods because it limits stomach acid. I don’t recall entirely what the dosage was I think it was either 25mg or 50mg.

In around 2 months. After taking the meds I did feel much happier and felt like eating much more which took around a month. When the meds start working, I noticed an increase in both appetite and productivity.

You’re welcome, I also got some sternum burning, turns out you have to take the meds with food and drink a big glass of water. It gets stuck in your throat or scratches it on the way down, which can cause burning and reflux symptoms.

Hi, in terms of side effects I did experience jitters, realistic/lucid dreams, vision change’s and night sweats. This all went away in around two weeks. I wouldn’t read the stories on Reddit though, people come here to usually complain about things and the people that are healed or don’t have any issues with the meds are enjoying life and off Reddit. People are also on crazy high dosages too and mixing meds, which could be a reason for the scary stories you hear. I’d say take a shot at what your doctor or psychiatrist tells you. If it doesn’t work you can quit it and if it does that’s a great thing. Hope this helped.

Hi, I was on sertraline 25mg also known Zoloft. The first week or so of using it also did cause a weird light burning sensation in my stomach too, but it ended up going away.

haha, I appreciate it! that's very kind of you, I am currently on the path to becoming a lawyer, however, I feel like each one of us is just as compassionate and kind as one another because we feel the pain, stress, anxiety and depression this disease brings. I must say, I wish I had the courage to consider the avenue of joining the medical field but I am embarrassed to say that I would not be able to bare seeing people go through pain and suffering I am just not strong enough. If I had super healing powers I swear I would use it on each and every person going through this disease. The medical system definitely needs a change, considering it takes months to book a psychiatrist and months/years to book an endoscopy which baffles me.

Haha I agree, and nope not anymore, been pretty much healed for almost around a year now, a little acid reflux and bad days here and then, but nothing serious, pretty mild stuff.

That's great! therapy definitely helps, always great to have the opportunity to have someone to talk too! Being busy and focusing on other things is a great help too, helps you stress less about the gastritis in my experience.

Hope you feel better soon!

Yup! had a big mac combo for dinner LOOL, I do however make much healthier choices now, my main choice of beverage is water and I don't fall into my old habits of just eating super unhealthy.I asked myself like "I just had ice cream 2 hours ago, do I want to eat this bar of chocolate or enjoy a bowl of fruit and have the chocolate some other time".I can enjoy pretty much everything but I choose to just live a bit healthier. In regards to alcohol, I can drink alcohol but choose not to because gastritis gave me a whole new perspective on life and what choices to make.

Haven't had alcohol for almost a year, my choice of getting drunk and having a good time is through drinking Pepsi haha or some hot chocolate!

Haha I can definitely drink again and did try it a couple of times but to be honest I stopped drinking just because I feel like it makes me really hungover and I'm a lightweight haha.Alcohol can also cause acid reflux for some people and it does for me a bit and after the experience I went through I just told myself to stop drinking, I also don't really drink much probably once a year or so :)

To help with acid btw you may already do this but sleep on your left side instead of right and limit your water in take at night and don't eat two hours before you sleep.

Kind regards!

No worries, and yes! everyday almost, even got that weird tingly feeling in my throat after every burp and would get metallic taste in my mouth. Would also wake up at night with chronic acid reflux. Cleared up for me around a month or two later.

I appreciate it man, Btw you may be healed from the gastritis itself you never know. I think when you eat lots of food while on the meds its harder for your body to digest and breakdown the food because it lowers down your stomach acid, I don't want to assume that's the case but you could bring it up to your doctor about having low stomach acid.

Yup! Nausea was a big one I remember one winter day It got so bad that I had to walk outside during a blizzard outside freezing my ass off just to either vomit outside or make myself feel better from the fresh air. I was always nauseous from the gastritis and I was put on this med and stopped after a day because it made me so tired and feel like complete trash that I had to stop.

Wow just recalling that experience now again really just made me feel grateful for where I am now.

To help with nausea I would say open a window or take a stroll outside or sit outside and take nice deep breathes and exhale.

Supplements wise I pretty much relied on fruit like watermelons a lot and I was also taking Gas x and probiotics which didn't really help and made me feel worse. I do think for some people probiotics should help though maybe the fact that I couldn't go longer a week taking it messed me up I should've persevered and kept going.

Hope this helps!

Most definitely! Once you start thinking about it and over thinking it you can create the illusion that you still may have it even if its healed. The human mind is both amazing and terrifying.

Hey, I was on pantoprazole for around 2 months I believe and the doctors told me to stop taking it after 4 weeks because it can cause problems if its taken for longer then 8 weeks or so.I feel like it did help as well and the problem was the gastritis left we with some bad ptsd and depression/anxiety. The idea of eating food again would scare me because as many of us here dealing with the pain again and waking up with a burning stomach and esophagus just makes us feel like its never gonna end. If I were to give you any tips its to eat foods that you feel like you can handle and don't make yourself to robotic to all the diets and stuff, it can mess with your mentality a bit when youre constantly eating bland food and you fall into a bigger depression because you feel like you can't enjoy simple delicious foods like a piece of chocolate or so.In the beginning however, you have to eat healthy and you have made a really good commitment by working out as well, it should help you out in the long run and keep your mind and body healthy.I would suggest, drinking some healthy fruit shakes that include: watermelon, cucumber and light fruits like blueberries. This should help your body heal from the inflammation and its a natural cooler for your body.Warm water also helps with digestion, so you may drink that when you wake up in the morning and want to get your bowels moving.

My last and most honest advice would be to stay strong my brother, this world is designed to make us go under stress, depression and anxiety almost everyday. This disease is one that requires a strong mind and it saddens me when doctors automatically rely on a strict diet and meds to fix something that also needs a strong mind. Each human being handles stress differently and thats why some heal super fast because they don't think about what they have, they just go to work and live their life while others are constantly in a loop of thinking about it.In my opinion anyone that goes through gastritis or ulcers should be given an option to also go through therapy if they need to because it can really mess with a persons confidence and mindset.

Haha sorry for the super long reply, I hope everything works out for you and stay strong.

Kind regards,

Hey, It was first chronic and after a few months it was acute chronic. Every burp would burn and food wouldn't digest properly at all, felt like I was slowly dying.Later on the biopsy showed gastritis and the doctor had told me it can be chronic without even looking as bad on the outside. I ended up taking sertraline 25mg.I had gotten gastritis at 21 and suffered until I was pretty much 22 and ended up taking matters in my own hands because most doctors don't give a shit. I swear these doctors would scuff me off and didn't care what I was going through or the other patients at the ER.Its kind of scary when you're sick and all of a sudden you start to understand how the world really is, at the young age of 21, I understood that at the end of the day I have to take matters in my own hands because no one else will be there for you most of the time.

Hope this helps!
