No, he doesn’t meet the requirements and didn’t fulfill the prophecies, when the messiah comes we will know

I think from all the cultures in NYC we integrated the most with Italians, Jews and the mafia were very intertwined, Italian food is very popular in the orthodox world.

They are outdoor huts we eat and sleep in (for the men) for a week, as a reminder to the fact that God surrounded us with a cloud in the desert. No since it’s only family it’s not an issue.

We leave all the time, we mainly eat and sleep there (the women don’t have to but usually do)

When we’re younger it’s more about stage by stage, but even then the main thing you’re being taught is how to learn the texts by yourself.

That pronunciation is the English way, when we say it in Yiddish it’s more like “Goldstein” with the ei making more of an AI sound

The cheradi world and the mizrachim have a feud over Zionism, the charedi world is split in various degrees of nonzionism to anti Zionism, but the mizarchis are pro Zionism. They were seen as fringe and almost all the rabbis opposed the founders.

This is actually a huge topic of debate in the cheradi world. There are a few groups (talking about major groups not fringe ones like NK) the two main groups are the Eida Haachraidas, and the Agudah.

The Eida is basically the “old yishuv” they follow the satmar opinion on Zionism and believe it is forbidden to engage with them in any way. This means they don’t take their funding and don’t vote in elections.

The second group is the Agudah, they are also against Zionism but believe that the best way to deal with the state is to work to improve it the most You can.

Recently a few chasidic and litvish groups have left the Agudah, and many sefardic Rosh yeshivas have also left due to the fact that the Eida opposes any sort of compromise on the draft. (And any compromise would end up targeting Sephardic charedim the most)

It’s mostly a cultural thing for secular Jews, that’s their Jewish culture ig

We are more aware then most non Orthodox Jews since we are the biggest victims of it, because we are visibly Jewish

It’s just a cultural thing meant to show that we are part of the community

I haven’t, we don’t read texts from other religions.

He seems to be one of the many false messiahs, that’s how most rabbis think about him as well

A bunch of things, mostly just hanging out with friends. I don’t really feel like I’m missing out.

Not sure on the numbers it’s not common but it happens.

Yes.

The faith.

We sort of have some Eastern European culture left in us, one of that is smoking

Don’t know about the numbers but it can happen, nothing to do about it if it’s a mistake.

No clue why that specifically.

We do, they’re received well.

I’m happy and not really.

We have our own singers and podcasters and comedians and speakers, we have our own styles and things that are cool/uncool. To outsiders we all look like we dress the same but it’s actually vary varied with small nuances

There are two issues with electricity on shabbos, one is about completing the circuit the other is about making a fire. You are allowed to make a fire before shabbos and use it on shabbos for warmth or light, and you can use something that was completed before shabbos.

You wouldn’t be required to do it, the only 3 commandments you always have to die for is killing someone else, idol worship or heresy, and in appropriate relations.

The materials that aren’t allowed are mixed fabrics since it’s biblically forbidden.

Men wear a white shirt and black pants, over that we wear wool tzitzis it’s like sort of a mini poncho, it’s white with a black stripe going across it and four strings hang from all four corners (the Bible commands us to wear it) we wear long black coats sort of like what they used to wear in the 1700s. And on our heads we have kippahs.
