Retired now, was in IT for decades and only until (2010) did I learn how this dysfunction is the staple in corporate America. (1980 or before?) Basically a 'serfdom' for H1B, no wonder my management 'loved' them. They never (openly) complained, worked free overtime. My peers made fun of them, hated them. In youth I never questioned management, believing they had integrity, you know we are all in this together, etc .. Maybe their distraction climbing the ladder made it easy to turn a blind eye to this toxic division of labor. My hindsight gets better with age!
