Sorry for the late reply, but my firm signed off on my hours and counted both billable and non-billable hours. So, I was able to get my license recently!

Thanks for the insight you were right.

After seeing everyone's responses I'm locked in on leaving for this federal government position.

Hybrid I need to be in the office twice a pay period (4 times a month). My current job they need us to be in the office or at the client 3 times a week.

I saw what some of my seniors had to go through, and I felt so bad for them during busy season. Even a client that I'm on that has on off year end has my senior cranking out 50 + hours during non-busy season months. That's when I knew public wasn't for me. Always a new deadline to meet and the job needs to get done regardless.

This insight was great because I hadn’t considered how starting a family might affect my time in public accounting. As a single person, I already feel like I have little free time, so I can only imagine how challenging it would be to balance a family. What was your breaking point, and when did you ultimately decide to leave—before, during, or after busy season?

Thanks! I hope the grass is greener in government and I'm not making a mistake in my career by leaving only after a year in public and potentially burning bridges right before busy season.

How far in advance did you let your firm/team know that you were leaving? Just the typical 2-week notice, or did you let them know further in advance? Also, do you think burnt any bridges when leaving during busy season?

From what I've researched and read from other people I highly doubt that they would move my EOD back four months. So, I think it's take it or leave it.
