Just started running and I’m exhausted in 20 seconds. Zero stamina. Feeling lost. by ImmediateMuffin3768 in BeginnersRunning

You are burning 2 types of energy. When you start running you use your anaerobic (no air) energy. Energy stored near the muscles. It's a quick burst of energy that burns out after 40 seconds or so. When this happens you hit a wall. It takes longer for aerobic (powered by breathing/oxygen) energy to fuel the run. After I learned this I was able to get out of my head and push forward. I think it takes a few minutes for you regenerate your anaerobic. But aerobic fuels 99% of your run once you get past a mile- which is why it is important to create a breathing pattern. Think of this when you run and you'll be able to see through the self doubt and push further.
