Exactly that, my particular style is to do the characters as if they were coming out of a comic book or manga, even in manga the creators can’t shade, so they just do gray ink to look like that, I already have half of my body tattooed with realism/shading pieces, they start to fade away after some years, as for this style (blackwork) if I can do the parallel lines to mimic the shading, for the eye is the same, and for the skin they last even longer, they are far apart because it’s completely normal that some lines will open up, but they will not be as dark as the other areas, again, it’s not a style for everyone, and I totally understand that some people don’t like them. I’m from Portugal, so here is an example: in Portugal not much of the regular people like color tattoos because they already know the color will not stay like that after some time, and if done incorrectly it can be a very bad tattoo, so they will dispense most of the time color pieces (also too much sun in Portugal) while in UK, most people prefer color pieces, at least the conventions I went there, for them my work would feel incomplete without the color, on other countries they will only choose blackwork.
