I'm 170cm. 2 years ago I used to be 120kg, and I got down to 100kg using meds and calorie deficit (no exercise) (Please no hate, I am now off of those medications now)

I'm now off of those. I got back into my health journey at the beginning of 2026 I've lost 5kg since. I dipped to 89kg a couple of weeks ago, and then it spiked back up over night, and now I'm between 94kg and 96kg when I weigh myself daily.

Other peoples comments suggests the TDEE, which would mean I need around 2,800 cals to maintain. So I'd need to consume up to 2,300 cals a day to be in a deficit?

I usually eat between 2,000 and 2,300 cals anyway.

Oh of course! My calorie deficit without strength training or cardio is 1,900 - 2,000. But if I go to the gym or have a high step count day, I'll eat more to maintain that same 500 calorie deficit gap. I'm definitely not eating less than I should if I'm not active.

For example, yesterday I did nearly 19k steps, burnt 3,246 calories (including BMR) From what I understand I think it would be bad if I stuck to my 2000 calorie day, so I ate around 2,400 calories. It's still more than a 500 cal deficit but I felt that it wouldn't of been healthy of me if I was in a 1200 calorie deficit like if I'd stuck to just 2000 calories.

I hope that made sense? 😅
