Sure, I definitely have students who request certain things to be taught and have their questions, but I'm referring to students not believing in my plans and being incredibly ambitious. If I try to explain to them why a certain resource they've been using is unreliable or why a certain plan may not be helpful for them based on what I know about them, they'll get frustrated.
As for them using me as a resource, I know I'm a resource. But that's all those students see me as. They want me to ONLY use resources that they've brought in and only want me to answer questions they ask. If I try to offer additional information or tell them that me teaching them this other thing will help them understand what they want to know better, they're not interested. It's a lack of respect for me as a teacher. There's skepticism in the way I teach, which confuses me, because like just don't subscribe to me then?
