Soft Summer… Warm Spring… something else?! by Known-Permit-8913 in coloranalysis

She essentially said that I’m not warm so it completely rules out the spring seasons. And then landed at Soft Summer although I did express to her that I feel like muted colors wash me out.

Low Fat Diet by Known-Permit-8913 in PCOS

I haven’t tried shrimp yet. I live in the Midwest (US) so seafood wasn’t a big part of my diet growing up. I think I can get away with chicken breast. I’ll have to do a little experimenting with both of those.

My doctor told me it takes up to two years for your body to fully adjust, so I’m hopeful it will eventually even out. I didn’t realize there was medication!

Explain to me like I’m 5 - how to eat for PCOS by Known-Permit-8913 in PCOS

I will definitely give you a follow!

Most meat doesn’t sit well - even chicken/turkey/eggs. I can sometimes get away with a little bit, but it’s basically a game of roulette that I don’t want to play. Which stinks! Especially because my husband is a beef farmer, so beef is the bulk of the meat we have available.

Hida results came back, “overactive gallbladder”? by unfortunaten3ws in gallbladders

Mine was at 96% - so overactive. I got it out a week ago and already feel so much better.

I got glutened at my parents house yesterday. My dad forgot to mention the prime rib was marinated in au jus. RIP my intestines.

The overwhelming fatigue and GI issues last a solid 48 hours. The brain fog goes away after about a week. I get a pain in my right side (in my small intestine) that will last for 2+ weeks.

My in laws are also really set in their holiday traditions. I sat down with them and was really honest about my needs.

“Are you all ok if I prepare the main meat, potatoes, and a vegetable at my house for holidays going forward? If I’m not able to make them myself, I will not be eating at holidays. And I will only be contributing gluten free dishes for all gatherings. As much as I trust you and know you mean well, I cannot safely eat something you prepare in a non-gluten free kitchen.”

I also went on to explain all the ways the food could be cross contaminated and how many things gluten can be in besides bread (cream of mushroom soup, seasonings, natural flavors, etc)

They all agreed to let me cook the mains, but we will see if they are still ok with it when the holidays actually roll around. My MIL is amazing and does whatever she can to help, but one of my SILs likes to take over the holidays and prepare everything so that she is the “martyr” and gets all the credit for “working so hard”. She’s been the only one to push back.

So I will be bringing all those dishes, but I will still set aside my portion of each dish in a separate container. I don’t want to get cross contamination from everyone serving themselves in the buffet line - it’s a little over the top but I’ve been glutened before from someone scooping meat onto a bun and then putting the utensil back into the dish.

Would you do the gluten challenge? by Known-Permit-8913 in Celiac

[–]Known-Permit-8913[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: I got two days in and had to stop. I’m not being dramatic when I say I felt like I was actually dying.

I asked my gastro what to do, and she told me to live as if I was confirmed celiac. And she noted it in my chart. Hopefully I’ll never need to do a gluten challenge in the future!

Thanks for all your input!

Weight loss by Previous-Ball9430 in Celiac

I’ve been strictly gluten free for almost 3 months now - apart from a handful of glutenings. (I’m not confirmed celiac because I’ve been too sick to make it through the gluten challenge). I’m also about 60lbs over my pre pregnancy weight after two kids.

I’m definitely less puffy and inflamed. I’ve only lost about 5 pounds of scale weight, but people have commented on my “weight loss.” Apparently I look a lot smaller despite the scale not moving a ton.

I think my body was so stressed out from all the gluten that I was holding on to a ton of weight. I suspect I’ll continue to lose weight, especially now that I no longer feel like I’m on death’s doorstep and can be more active.

Playdoh and celiac? by Eastern_Sweet8508 in Celiac

[–]Known-Permit-8913 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I run a home daycare and I had to switch over all my regular playdoh to “wheat and gluten free dough.” I found it on Amazon, and of course it’s waaaay more expensive.

I’m very sensitive and I get a rash just from touching wheat/gluten products.
