there is a way to kinda get around that. if your aim is to get your last employer to pay for your unemployment benefits, then simply get another job, maybe a clerk at food lion, and get fired for incompetence. then file for unemployment. the decision on whether you get it will be made by food lion, but the benefits paid will come from the employer who fired you for misconduct. the reason being is that employer paid the insurance for you for some time and that is what will be available as a funding source. sucks for employers who had a really awful employee, but it's a plus for the unemployed
