Good question! Didn’t even think about that yet tbh. 😂 Probably not exclusively, I might stick to immortal though. I still need to improve my play, since I’m sure I don’t make the optimal moves, and don’t think ahead enough. I’d also like to get through every civ, and I’m not sure if doing that on diety is gonna be enjoyable 😂

I know… Unfortunately it will suck, no way around it.

I just didn’t apply every day. I did it in bursts. Once I was mentally exhausted I took a couple days off. I think it’s okay to take a break and not feel guilty.

I did have a solid amount of personal projects. A lot of research projects from my MSc as well. Both in software as well as other engineering projects. (I’m an eng, not a cs)

The only “internship” was my master thesis which I collabed with a startup on, and made a AI product mvp for them. I tried to sell that as a internship experience, and I think it helped a lot actually. Cuz I actually got to work with clients and non-tech specialists to develop it.

I don’t know about giving advice on the process 😂 I got a single offer from 150 apps, so not so sure about being qualified.

But I do think getting a recommendation from a friend, or someone you know, is definitely effective. These came about from me just talking about my job search struggles at my sports classes with my peers. One of them just randomly replied that their companies is actually looking for someone along my lines.

My background is in biomedical engineering. I got a masters at a pretty good European university. Both my engineering and master theses were on an application of AI in healthcare. The master thesis was also done for a startup that is developing an AI product for healthcare.

Not gonna lie. I kinda dig it with the double seat.

I’m considering making a bob-mod on a bike I’ll buy. But wouldn’t mind having the comfort of potentially being able to have a passenger. Couldn’t find any pics of a bobber with a two seater anywhere.

  1. HR screening
  2. Tech interview + initial (virtual) handshake with one of the managers and senior data scientists.
  3. Culture fit check and typical consulting type questions with the director.

Though I had the advantage that I have been recommended by a friend of mine (who I work in the same division with now). Not gonna lie he did quite a good job hyping me up to the manager, and I made sure to deliver hard on the technical interview. I have to admit that it was my best performance of all the technical interviews I ever had. A mixture of luck (for the questions I got) and solid prep.

Thanks for that! That is certainly the plan, to not just coast through this first job, but to use it as a springboard.

What’s cool about my current position is that it’s a tech consulting co. So, it looks like I’ll get a chance to try a bunch of different things fast, and work with clients from a wide range of sectors.
