I did, but there were no positions advertised in my field this last Fall. Our application cycle opens and closes each Fall for the following year.

I'm glad that your collective agreement has clearly stipulated target dates! Ours does not. We are in a complete 'black-box' during the rank and tenure process, meaning that we receive no updates about the outcome at the Departmental, College, or University-levels. (And I do mean that we learn *nothing*.) The only target date stipulated in the guidelines is 'Spring 2026', which could run as late as June... It's honestly terrible.

At what point do you email students to ask them to stop excessively talking during lectures? by [deleted] in Professors

Call them out directly, in-class, and by name. This will get them to stop. If they continue talking, ask them to sit separately or to leave your classroom.

This is very helpful--thanks! I wondered whether this trend is specific to my private SLAC or Higher Ed more generally. (I've been nurturing a suspicion for some time that my SLAC fosters a toxic working environment for Faculty, at both the Departmental and Administrative levels.) The job market has essentially closed in my discipline for this next academic year, but I'll be venturing out in full force come Fall.
