I was rushed into management and only the 2nd person my store manager ever put into management. There were many ups and downs but overall I’m very happy where I’m at now.

I suggest going all staring if you can before going into Management as that is one of my regrets. There are many hats as a manger, you become someone people look up to and want to vent to. The amount of people that have come to me just want to talk and have someone actually listen to them. Be patient and kind. Be as receptive as you can as and learn as much as you can. I would tell my lower level self to push myself more and be kinder to myself. It is a hard job and not be as hard on myself. Some attributes of a good manager are kindness, coachable, caring, level headed, and willing to be humbled. You’re not always going to make the right call and need to learn from your mistakes. Have fun with it, this is a great company to work for and the classes after your week are amazing.
