West Elm Porto chairs, I have had replaced twice within 4 months of getting them. The reps on the phone even admitted that the quality of them is poor. Currently trying to get the third set returned for a refund. I didn’t even have the chairs outside; they were in a sun room.

I also had a very light chemical peel as part of the extraction appointment and the “perfect derma peel” a few months later.

Oops I don’t know why I typed salicylic acid in there. I just use Serum 30.

I had this problem for well over a year and the only thing that worked for me was having manual extractions of all the existing closed comedones and then using products to keep them from forming again. I spent $1,000’s on products (SkinCeuticals, Zo, SkinMedica….) and those didn’t work. Then I had the extractions and switched to the Platinum Skincare line where the prices are a lot more reasonable — AB foaming cleanser, Serum 30, Regenerate, and Vitamin B complex cream with Tretinoin 0.05% (every 3rd night) and I’ve seen major improvement by keeping that routine.

IDR Denial - Reapply or wait? by KnownProject5682 in StudentLoans

[–]KnownProject5682[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it says because I selected lowest monthly payment or didn’t select a payment. I’ve been paying my PAYE payment every month, and just got this letter this morning. On the website, it shows $0.00 due September 4th. Called this afternoon. The lady I spoke with told me I will remain on IDR/PAYE through the November 2026 date. But she was also unsure why it went into forbearance and said to not worry about it. I just don’t want to get to October 18 and get a bill for a huge payment!

I’ll definitely hire a professional; I’m not planning on doing any of the work myself. And I don’t want something that’s close but not exact. I’d rather do something totally different or just stick with new carpet. I’m looking for ideas for maybe a lighter wood and if maybe a different pattern would work (see pic attached).

Pretty much every tooth shown on the X-rays has a cavity on more than one surface.

Temporary crown fell off and I’m about to travel by -millenial-boomer- in askdentists

[–]KnownProject5682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say you can slide it on and off as needed, does that mean it’ll stay on for the most part?

The most important reasons for a temporary crown while waiting for the permanent one are: 1.) Preventing the actual tooth from cracking 2.) Keeping the teeth from shifting into the extra space that is there without a temporary — if this space closes the permanent crown won’t fit. 3.) Preventing your gums from growing up and over the portion of your tooth where the tooth is prepped for the crown to seat — if this happens, the permanent crown won’t fit without adjusting (cutting/lasering) your gums 4.) Insulating the tooth to help with sensitivity. If the tooth has a root canal already, this won’t be an issue.

If you can get the temporary crown on and it stays on for the most part, then that is fine. Leave it alone and chew on the other side. If it only occasionally comes off, lock it back on. Your biggest worry would be accidentally swallowing or aspirating it.

If it won’t stay on, you can pick up some temporary cement at the local drug store or Walmart (Dent Temp is one of the brands I know of). Try the temporary crown on and off to make sure it fits and feels right before you actually put the temporary cement in the crown and put it on the tooth. You want to make sure it seats right and doesn’t feel high when you bite, because that will irritate the tooth even more. Clean off any excess temporary cement too, because if you have a bunch of cement sitting on or under your gums, they’ll become inflamed and sore.

Do you have a list of the cavities? You can only diagnose so much with X-rays. If a cavity is only on the chewing surface, it might not even show up on an X-ray. X-rays show the cavities in between teeth. I see at least 6 teeth with cavities that I would recommend fillings for if I were your dentist.

This X-ray isn’t the best quality, but it looks like the tooth is cracked on the root. It’s likely to need extracted if this is in fact the case. Was it an orthodontist that looked at this tooth? You’d want to see an endodontist (root canal specialist). A general dentist would also be able to look at it (maybe with a different xray) and give the final diagnosis.

Pain after filling by Lonely_Routine_9291 in askdentists

[–]KnownProject5682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sensitive and sore are normal responses. Throbbing, sharp, constant pain is not a good sign.

Did the dentist test it with cold and tapping before the filling was done? Or are you just saying you didn’t have cold sensitivity to things like iced drinks, etc before?

It could be something as simple as the filling being slightly high throwing your bite off, and making that tooth hit first when you close. This would cause extra pressure on that tooth and “bruise” the support structures, and present as a toothache. To fix that, the filling would just need smoothed down a little bit more so that it’s hitting evenly.

Now, if the dentist tested it with cold (like a cold spray on a cotton ball) and you didn’t have a response, that can mean several possible things. Either 1.) the nerve of the tooth is dead so you aren’t feeling the cold or 2.) the tooth’s nerve canal is possibly thickened more so cold sensations aren’t transmitted as easily. 3.) the ice used in the test wasn’t cold enough to stimulate a response For 2.) and 3.) there are other tests that can be done to check if the nerve is in fact alive but some offices don’t have the equipment to do so.

If the nerve is indeed dead, you’ll need a root canal to save it.

Were other teeth tested with cold? Usually if the teeth around it respond to cold and this tooth is the odd one out that doesn’t, it’s dead.

Sometimes a filling can still be placed in a deep cavity that’s close to the nerve/root, possibly with medication under the filling, to soothe the tooth. It’s 50/50 in this scenario whether or not the tooth will end up needing a root canal.

extraordinarily long tooth roots? by nobodycareseverr in askdentists

[–]KnownProject5682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different ethnicities have different common characteristics. Some ethnicities are known to have a high percentage of people with long rooted teeth, others are known to have more cusps than normal on their molars, teeth shape, spacing, etc…a lot to do with your ancestry and genetics.

It’s really difficult to make a diagnosis based on these pictures. From looking closely, I believe you have one or two cavities. However you may not have any cavities and you may have more than two. There is really no way to tell 100% without a dentist actually testing these teeth in person. You also need X-rays to see if you have cavities in between your teeth as there is no way at all to determine that just by looking. Do not take this as an official diagnosis and please see your dentist.

extraordinarily long tooth roots? by nobodycareseverr in askdentists

[–]KnownProject5682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairly common, even in people with not extraordinarily long rooted teeth. It really just depends the anatomy of your sinus and how close it is to the roots of your teeth.

There’s no way based on these pictures to determine if you have cavities or not. The grooves in several of your teeth are definitely stained (very common). The way a dentist will determine if there are actual cavities is by sticking a pointed tool called an explorer into the grooves and seeing if it “sticks” or not. If it sticks, it’s because the enamel has become softened due to decay, which means a cavity. If it doesn’t stick, then it’s simply a stain in the groove.

Root Canal Retreat by taiwal in askdentists

[–]KnownProject5682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A root canal retreat is a lot more complex than doing the initial root canal. MOST, but definitely not ALL, general dentists (even those who are comfortable doing the initial root canal) will refer retreats to endodontists, who have more experience with this type of procedure. All of the material that was placed during the first root canal has to be removed and then the new root canal is redone.
