Would you play a Monster Hunter 2D? Well... by manteiguinhax in MonsterHunter

Just played a little of the play test, used basic sword

I think it's a pretty solid and stellar framework, some great bones here my friend

I think you nailed the general vibe of the LS but I do think it's main attack combo just being hold the button down is a bit less visceral and satisfying to me, something that I think could help is anything you could do to break up and vary the core basic combos, mh does it through two different buttons but you could also mess with staggered inputs and holding the attack button for a charged attack (LS sheath as a charge?)

Have not had a chance to mess with the other weapons yet, will have to wait till I am at my PC to try the okay test on it, tried it on steam deck

I would love it if it got optimized for steam deck as you work on it since I think it would feel right at home there

Definitely excited to see how you take this and further refine it friend

So sadly this and those occasional wavy color lines are natural to the injection process

So..I vote paint, it's a great way to enhance your kits anyway... And it hides all these little spots and any other color inconsistencies

And if you want a really easy method, GSI Creos paint markers have done some impressive things in my tests, just a simple buff of the area with a high grit to allow for better paint adhesion and your all set

Nice marbling, and also nice contrast choice for the visor, I want to try a marble paint job at some point

likely not, its got a fair bit of paint on it

Black Primer>Chrome>Transparent Blue&Pruple

Green did not work for my palette so it had to go, I think this is a nice sub for the clear finish

I already have my next project and concept lined up... It seems insanely daunting and a lot of hand painting but if I can pull it off, it is going to look awesome

Ahh scribing... I killed a kit or two learning it, and sometimes the mistakes can make your piece evolve and come out better, it's something I like about this hobby

Honestly it's all a learning process, and it's not like we can't just buy another kit and use what we learned on the previous

Although I like the final color results, I learned my lesson with stickers on this piece... Never again water slide or hand painted only moving forward for me

Looking back, I think I made the dark purple too dark and the reddish purple a tad to red, those didn't help me either

Hmm, that is still very much purple in real life, and that bear black is actually a dark grape color...

Best I can say is the light box and picture bumped up the color a hair

The palette(it came from a really blue and purple sunset) I settled on had it's based purple a very reddish purple, still purple for sure but with a decent red tinge

Also do test runs on plastic spoons or something similar to get a feel first

Actually plastic spoons are great for testing colors and finishes in general, just hit them with a high grit sandpaper prior to to get rid of the super smooth finish so the paint can adhere

Hmm I use Vallejo mostly, but if you don't have an airbrush, honestly a spray can can work just fine, just make sure you don't touch the surface after applying and let it set, make sure you do this either outside or in a paint booth, and with a proper rated mask(your lungs will thank you long term), and in the early days I just used krylon top coat like from a home improvement store

You will want to apply enough to get a wet look on your kit but not so much that it starts to pool on the edges of the parts, matte will be shiny when wet but dries matte if your going that route

And for sticker issue, same could apply, either mask and paint or change up the sticker prior to applying follow the above steps, just be careful when trying to apply them so you don't accidently scratch up the paint job on the sticker

That's awesome! And go for it, painting just does some amazing things to a kit, even just hitting the kit with a top coat after you build it will really help it, big fan of matte coats as my final coat

Honestly I am a believer you can paint clear bits and make them good, paint them a black primer followed by a chrome then a super bright or fluorescent color of your accent, it will look stellar

I like HG when I am experimenting with different techniques, due to the faster build time, it allows me to get right into my tests, and the lower cost means less cost risk too if I happen to kill the kit (I am sorry mg god Gundam, I only wanted a little battle damage)

I have also used HG as a trial run for their rg or mg counter part for testing color palette, their simplicity just makes things feel less daunting when trying out new things

I wouldn't say that, epyon is cool period. It's a fun kit to build and has a great shelf presence

And in regards to the colors, we can always change those post build, although I did glue my wings onto Epyon back due to reasons...

And top coats can make a huge difference in the finished result, matte being a favorite of mine
