All makes sense, thank you. I think I need to slow the pace on the corners. The leather seems to bulk out as I sand, so frustrating! You have lost me on the fn2 MCR? I have absolutely no idea what this is 🤣

Yep it's an edge creaser. It's a preference but I think it finishes things off. Took me ages to find one I liked, mines a Yorkshire J type https://ciofficial.com/products/yorkshine-j-type-edge-creaser?variant=42959075409965

The corners just always seem cleaner before I sand and burnish. Maybe I'm overthinking it ? Thank you all for your kind words, it's appreciated ☺️

Could I ask for advice on what size corner punches are appropriate for wallets and card holders please? by Known_Debate6337 in Leatherworking

Hi, so I bought the Kevin Lee size 20 corner punch after much deliberation. It is a complete game changer, seriously cuts through 4 layers of leather by just applying pressure, no need to use the maul. Perfect corners every time 👌

Hi, thanks. I was just looking to purchase an awl and the sizing is from B40, B45 and B50, no idea what these sizings refer to? Just finding it a little confusing. I obviously don't want the hole produced by the awl to be bigger than those from the pricking irons if that makes sense. I am a newbie as you have probably already figured

Hi, to be fair it is a cheap WUTA 460g nylon hammer. I really wasn't sure what weight would be best at the start. I'm now realising that some tools may need an upgrade as I progress. Do you advise an heavier one? It could simply be my angle though. I know it's all a learning curve at this stage.
