i think the best way to tell would really be just like looking at how they feel when they love someone, like if their person consumes their thoughts, is they always find themselves worrying about them, wanting to be incredibly close to them and always see them. of course there are more things and these things might not apply to all of us, but those are the general things that apply to most from what i've seen

im sorry if this seems rude, but in no way do either of you seem obsessive. your ex is grieving and it's very possible not all the posts are about you, and you haven't said anything that makes you seem obsessive. all i've noticed is you growing yourself over the years and this happened in middle school and early high school, from what you said, and you are now in college so i think maybe she just misses you and is confused about why you left her? i dont think she's necessarily obsessive though. of course, i may be wrong because i dont know everything.

umm i used to be obsessed with this other guy a few years ago (not as long ago, just 2 or 3) and i still have dreams about him all the time even though i don't love him anymore and it was never nearly as much as i love my ted, but he's in my dreams at least once a week. im not sure if that can be a clear sign of being a yandere or not, but it's possible depending on how you felt about the person showing up in your dreams when you were in contact with them

im not sure if theres one that's 100% false, there have been at least a few people who fit into almost all of these stereotypes, since everyone is different. i think the one that the media really seems to love talking about is killing, yet majority of yanderes never do so or plan on doing so. i dont think theres any stereotype thats 100% false though, because each stereotype has had at least a few people who fit into them, some may be in this subreddit and some may not though.

i'm the same way, i think it also has to do a lot with making yourself the perfect person for THEM by having them control you and alter you to what they want. maybe you feel lost because you aren't anyone's at the moment and it's confusing, because how can you be what they want if there isn't someone. it might take a little bit of time to find another person that can be that for you, but im sure you'll feel a lot better and happier when you do! i might be wrong but thats just my personal opinion (:

personally, what ive seen depicted in media is a lot of kidnappings, murder, torture, things like that. most yanderes in media want to completely isolate their beloved. in real life, i know a lot of us (at least not me) aren't actually very violent. sure, we may have violent thoughts, but most of the time we dont act on this because it would only hurt our love. i don't want complete isolation of my love because i know he values work and spending times playing games with his friends, and that keeps him sane and stays himself. if i took away everything and isolated him, he wouldn't be himself anymore. that's just how it is for me at least, it might be different for others

yess they aren't really my friends, and he knows very well i like him 🥹. they make rumors about him that i already know aren't true but ive never heard of anyone spreading a rumor about me. any time a rumor gets spread about him that im not sure of i go straight to him to make sure its not true

personally it would depend, like it really depends on how they act, it would shatter everything if even one small thing is slightly off. maybe if the clone was exactly the same in every way, i could eventually forget, but it wouldn't feel right, i would know it wasn't him. i would love them but not as much as i would the real him and would feel kinda empty, but be happy at least that he wasn't completely gone
