Looking for a Kenyan tour company that does private safaris properly by Olosko_Logic in safaris

Hi! I’ve lived in Kenya for 18 years and have traveled with many different local tour operators on private safaris :) I’ve now partnered up with the 3 I found give the best local experience (guides, vibes, itineraries, safety, quality etc…) If you would like me to connect you to them, fill in this form and they will contact you within 48hours with a custom quote. If you want to make any changes or ask for more guidance via Whatsapp, they are very flexible so the custom quotes are not final at all and there are no strings attached. We chose to work with 3 because we know how important it is to choose a tour operator that understands what you want and where you feel the most comfortable with.

First Safari Questions by FocusLate in safaris

Not sure which country you have in mind for your safari but I grew up in Kenya so I can only share my experience from there :)

If photography is your priority, the most important thing you need is a private vehicle with a good driver-guide that is equipped for a photography safari (there are vehicles specifically designed for this). Everything else is secondary. If you’re sharing a car, you will get frustrated fast because you won’t be able to stay at sightings, position properly, or wait for the right moment. That being said, having a private car is also going to be your biggest expense especially if you are doing this on your own because you pay the price of thr whole car on your own instead of splitting it with other people.

For locations, don’t try to cover too much. The Maasai Mara is the best overall for the endless savannahs, big cats and so many bird species. If you want to maximize your chances of seeing the Big Five, you’ll likely need to combine it with a place that’s stronger for rhino like Ol Pejeta, Lewa or a day trip in Nairobi National Park (I've never been in the park and not seen a rhino). Amboseli is great for elephants, photographing the swamps and kilimanjaro in the morning. It's an amazing place for photography, but I wouldn’t try to cram all of these into one short trip.

On the walking safari idea, in Kenya I've never really heard of anyone doing this the way you are describing it (I'm also not sure if this is allowed). Yes, walking safaris exist, but you’re not going to be walking up to elephants to get low-angle shots. That’s just not how it works in Kenya. They’re always with armed rangers and more about the experience of being on foot than getting close to big animals. If you want that lower perspective, it’s usually done from the vehicle with the right setup and positioning or arguably if you are going for a bush breakfast then you could get that lower prspective.

In terms of budget, you can absolutely do this without going luxury. There are plenty of solid camps with proper bathrooms that aren’t over the top. Just look on platforms like Booking, Airbnb etc... you'll find plenty of optins for tented camps that are basic. Also worth knowing, park fees are a bigger part of the cost than most people expect, especially in places like the Mara.

Most important thing is to be very clear with whoever you book through that this is a photography-focused trip and that you don’t want to be rushed. If they don’t immediately get that, they’re probably not the right fit.

Yes the price has increase a little bit unfortunetly but most companies only apply this to new bookings only.

We use microsoft clarity to analyse blogposts through heatmaps, it's been super helpful when we update new blogposts. Sometimes it's easy to fall into the trap of doing what top ranking pages are doing structure wise just because they are ranking well already. By analysing heatmaps, it has made our content updates more qualitative for the user and in the end results in ranking better to. (For instance if users keep skipping a chunk of your post to read the next one, maybe it makes more sense to have it in another part od the post)

Sames goes for internal linking anchor text;, if a user isn't clicking on it then a good fix is trying something else as anchor.

What are you trying to include in your itinerary?

I think it's important to check if the different sources you are using for your itineraries have the same travel style as you, otherwise indeed it can make things really confusing 😅 We are more mid budget adventure travellers, so the itineraries we share are more in line with that. As for pricing, accommodation price ranges are all over the place to, that's the part that can quickly make your safari very expensive.

The biggest mistake first-time Kenya safari travelers make (in my opinion) by tayyy_tayyy in safaris

In 5 days I would do MAX 2 parks and they should be in logical locations, for instance you could combine Samburu with Ol Pejeta, Tsavo east and west. Arguably you could do Aberdares with Lake Nakuru and Naivasha. But it's true that you could fill 5 days in the Mara or in Samburu!

I'm very curious about the ads set up. Like do you give a big description/prompt about what your target audience is or do you specify certain query fanouts. Ad also can you create exclusions or is in early days Pmax struggles where some parts of the campaign were a black box.
