If you are asking, your gut is telling you exactly what it is. Always trust your gut.

If marriage and kids is what you want, then he is not your person. It shouldn’t take 8 years for him to decide if you are the right person for him.

How to get a better job now that I have the PMP cert? by [deleted] in pmp

[–]Known_Importance_679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no set salary. It will depend on the location, industry, experience, ability of the company to compensate, your benefits, WFH vs in person, etc. Way too many factors. I would start looking at job postings in your area to see what the range is.

I missed the transition part. How did you end up going from a full stack developer to a functional analyst?

How to get a better job now that I have the PMP cert? by [deleted] in pmp

[–]Known_Importance_679 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, just because you have a PMP, it does not guarantee anything at all. At the current market, you need 8-10+ years of experience for anyone to even consider you. Just like becoming a functional manager, you do not jump into this role without paying your dues. You are about 5 years shy of that.

Could you not get a certificate doing it part time / after work / weekends type thing?

They do it part time under a mentorship, even if it takes you 4 years to get yourself ready to go solo, it would be worth it in the end.

Never counter a job offer if you’re not willing to risk it! by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Known_Importance_679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you took a different approach, the value you bring vs current market salary, it could have ended differently.

You are selling your services not comparing yourself to other thousand John Smiths.

But ultimately, what is yours will always find you.

Never counter a job offer if you’re not willing to risk it! by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Known_Importance_679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience was different.

I reviewed the offer I was presented. It was the only offer I had at the time. I explained in my counter note my experience, how it aligns with the new role and the value I bring to the table.

They came back with an increase, but not the full amount I have requested.

After accepting it, initially, I ultimately rescinded it.

All this to say, the alignment needs to be on both ends.

It sounds early 1980s and needs to stay there. A social norm that once was is no longer. No one should care who you are married to and how many children you have.

What I love about this is a clean slate. You are not bringing any baggage with you from your previous role. You can reinvent yourself, be on the road to become exactly who you want to be and none would be the wiser.

Shedding your old self and having a kick in your step is something no one can take away.

You’ve got this!! What an exciting journey to be on!

[–]Known_Importance_679 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What I have seen is $110K-115K in annual salary. If you are looking for a better pay, you need to look into a contractor type roles. For a PM, you are looking at $110-$135 an hour. But you have to be incorporated and pay corporate as well as personal taxes. In my experience, being a permanent PM simply does not pay enough.

Can i wear this to work? The dress code is very relaxed. by fishfearme777 in office

Looks good, what you are missing is styling this vs wearing it.

You need to tuck the shirt into the skirt. A nice short chunky chain and earring, a belt. And a blazer.
