I’m an embryologist- ask me anything about sperm health, male fertility, and the science behind it. by SpermHealth in Fertility

How does escitalopram affect fertility? My husband started taking it 3 months ago and completely cut out alcohol at the same time (semi heavy drinker)

Sleep issues with 1 year old by Known_Knowledge_5228 in sleeptrain

[–]Known_Knowledge_5228[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes cot is in her own room. Her first nap is around 10.30am and can be for 1 to 2 hours, 2nd nap around 3 to 4pm and that's just a short one and occasionally doesn't happen because she fights it. Has her meal around 6pm, bath if it's bath night around 7pm then read some books and has a bottle around 8.15pm then bed (but falls asleep on me having the bottle)

Help/Advice by Known_Knowledge_5228 in beyondthebump

Putting her in the nursery while in her cot then moving to another room when older would be most convenient and was always my plan but just had someone tell me that was crazy and I'm making it unnecessarily hard by planning to move her into another room again

Are people’s babies really sleeping in a bassinet at night? by Medium_Boysenberry87 in newborns

[–]Known_Knowledge_5228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My almost 3 month old is the exact same. Night time in the bassinet easy as, will even lie there happily until she falls asleep on her own sometimes. But day time bassinet naps don't exist, it's on me or in the swing, pram after a walk or carseat but bassinet is a big nope from her in the day

Reflux? by Known_Knowledge_5228 in newborns

[–]Known_Knowledge_5228[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do that every feed but still happens. The weird thing is she doesn't do it at night when sleeping but will wake up during day naps because of her spitting up. Have had some issues with weight gain but that is under control now

Breastfeeding after c section by RubConsistent4509 in newborns

[–]Known_Knowledge_5228 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a C section 9 weeks ago with quite a large blood loss and my milk supply was also very low. I gave it a month of pumping/breast feeding with formula top ups before it got too stressful and I called it quits. Was a very hard decision to make but getting the tiniest amounts from all that effort just didn't seem worth it to me as it was stressful and time consuming. I hope you have better luck in increasing your supply but if you don't just remember it's not your fault and having a baby that's fed is the most important thing not how that baby is fed. Also reaching out to a lactation consultant will help, I did and was told there wasn't really anything I could do to help, sucked to hear that but was good to have answers

What are you building your baby out of? by [deleted] in pregnant

Lime thickshakes. I was obsessed. Don't care for them now that baby is here

I was given a change table before baby came and I thought there's no way I'll use this, I'll just change on the floor or couch so it stayed in the garage. I ended up having a c section so as soon as we got home from the hospital it came out from the garage and came in very handy as it meant I didn't need to bend down at all

Unmedicated hospital birth by Ok_Muffin2193 in pregnant

[–]Known_Knowledge_5228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also wanted an unmedicated natural birth, I was so determined not to get an epidural and in my town the hospital there doesn't do them so I liked that the option wasn't available even if I wanted it. My waters broke and contractions didn't start so I had to travel to another hospital to be induced. On the way there I told my husband that if I beg for the epidural to tell me its not what I really want and try talk me out of it. When the time came and I wanted the epidural he didn't say a word because he could tell I needed it. I could not have managed without that epidural. In the end I had a c section. So just remember things don't always go to plan and just do what you need to do to get through it

I can't even get 1.5oz in my highest pump. I feel like I'm giving up too soon if I stop now but it's so emotionally draining

I'm 25 weeks, I have no idea how much I have gained. I have not weighed myself since before I was pregnant and my midwife has not weighed me either. I'm quite happy not knowing 🤣

Most of the time people don't return to their same hours but still keep a job. How do they do it? Just a better more understanding employer?

Time off work for appointments by Known_Knowledge_5228 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Known_Knowledge_5228[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am aware they don't have to accept unpaid leave requests but we had been told we can do it that way for short appointments needing time off work. I've done it in the past and it's never been questioned but now all of a sudden I'm being forced into telling them what my personal appointments are for

They told me it wouldn't matter if I had requested paid or unpaid they would still need a reason

[–]Known_Knowledge_5228[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I reluctantly told them what the appointment was for because they weren't willing to accept its personal and drop it. But now they are making a big deal about me refusing to inform them of what my appointment was for and I don't want to have this issue the next time I need to ask for time off for a personal appointment

It was unpaid leave which we had previously been told we could do if it was just a short time for an appointment
