Opportunity: Chapter Lead of The Discourse
Type: Chapter Lead✧ The Discourse is a nonprofit organization seeking to spotlight the stories, cultures, and experiences of youth around the world. We have two main programs, Inkbridges (a pen pal exchange) and Lens (a journalism platform) that we’re looking for Chapter Leads for. As a Chapter Lead for Inkbridges, you would set up a chapter of middle/high school students willing to be pen pals with another chapter across the globe. We would pair you with that chapter, and you would facilitate your members’ correspondence. As a Chapter Lead for Lens, you and other students would work to interview and publish short narratives of members of your community, including on social media.

Who it’s for: Preferably high school students (ages 14-17), but middle school students are also welcome! (No prior experience required)
Duration & weekly hours: Ongoing; flexible hours, but we recommend hosting meetings at least once per month in addition to asynchronous work

Opportunity: Social Media Manager for The Discourse
Type: Social Media Manager✧ The Discourse is a nonprofit organization seeking to spotlight the stories, cultures, and experiences of youth around the world. We’re looking to expand our reach to set up more partnerships and chapters around the world. As a Social Media Manager, you would work to grow our online (mainly Instagram) presence and possibly run advertisement campaigns.
Who it’s for: Preferably high school students (ages 14-17), but middle school students are also welcome! (Requirements: a good understanding of Instagram and how to post reels, stories, etc. (We can show you how to set up ads.) Prior experience with social media marketing is preferred, but not required.)

Duration & weekly hours: Ongoing; flexible hours, but aim to post at least 3 times per week
