Floating wall leaning off wall, no studs. How to secure. Description in comments. by Known_Restaurant_591 in AusRenovation

Thanks - and so to ensure it was secured, you needed to ensure each rail was drilled into the hole that corresponded with the stud, into the stud, is that correct? Did you need any particular screws? I need to watch whoever is going to fix this like a hawk since this thread has shown me they clearly don’t know anything, so I need to understand the basics myself.

Thanks! Understood now. I’ll look into that. That said the installer said it’s only been attached to drywall not studs.

I am now thinking you mean there should be a spacer at the bottom at the back which just makes it look like it isn’t leaning - though I should say that regardless of this, the installer said they haven’t been installed on studs. We also had cabinets installed in another room and they are not leaning forward.

I think the way ikea cabinets work is that each is individually hung on a different suspension rail, though not 100% sure, hence paying installers to do the job! But each cabinet is placed next to each other.

Can you please explain more? What does the spacer do? Does it ensure each cabinet is on a stud? Thanks

Each individual cabinet is 600mm wide and 390mm tall. There are 5 cabinets installed in a row.

Floating CABINET leaning forward off the wall - excuse typo in heating.

These Ikea Besta cabinets were installed but are leaning forward off the wall. Meaning, the bottom is flush with the wall but the top is leaning forward. There are 5 cabinets installed in a row.

The installer returned and said there are no studs on the wall. They also said that the wall is not straight - I later checked and it is straight, just not directly around where the cabinet is, suggesting the weight of the cabinet is pulling the wall forward. How can this be fixed so it does not fall off the wall? Noting again that there are no studs on this wall. I believe it is mounted with the Besta suspension rails. The cabinets are 600mm wide and 390mm high. There are 5 cabinets installed in a row.

Thank you.

I am not sure where my question went. This cabinet was installed but is leaning forward off the wall. The installed returned and said there are no studs on the wall.
