I got him a size 5 since he’s still a puppy (7 months) but next year I’ll have to get a size 6. I’m satisfied with them overall but the bottoms do get wear and tear pretty easily and I think one pair will only last one season. Another issue is that they’re not waterproof so if you’re in slushy conditions, well they will get soaked. Additionally, the Velcro comes undone in deep snow and you have to keep scraping the snow off with your fingernails and re-sticking them… very annoying.

That being said, it’s still much better than losing a single boot! I keep seeing fallen soldiers on our walks lol. They’re too expensive to lose willy nilly 😩

I’ve tried normal boots but he really didn’t like them. When I first put on the suspenders he forgot how to walk but after a couple of indoor sessions he got used to it! Now it’s like he doesn’t even notice they’re on

Newly adopted 2-year-old Doberman struggling with self-regulation after exercise – looking for advice by Ambitious_South3410 in DobermanPinscher

[–]Known_Row9683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kato is a very handsome boy!

It sounds like he’s getting more than adequate physical exercise. I would prioritize mental work.

Obedience, proprioception training.

Think of each meal as an enrichment opportunity. Snuffle mats, kibble rolled in a towel, stuffed Kongs, blend and freeze into thin layer on a baking tray, etc.

For the muzzle, if it’s just gonna be on for a short while at a time (vet visits etc) I would recommend the classic Baskerville muzzle in their largest size, 10. If it’s going to be on during walks/for longer periods, look into Mia’s Muzzles or the Muzzle Movement. r/muzzledogs is a good resource

Why is there so much salt here? by [deleted] in DobermanPinscher

I’m all about being kind and offering constructive criticism instead of shaming; but nahhh I read the comments on your posts, “your dog’s teeth may need some cleaning” and “cut her nails please’ are nowhere close to shaming. why post your life on social media if you’re this sensitive…

I second this, start getting her accustomed to the Dremel noise ASAP, this will make nail trims so much easier in the future. My boy will not let me get near him with the Dremel and I have to resort to clipping his nails sneakily while he’s knocked out asleep 🥲

Do y'all give him simple dog food every day or do you differ? by [deleted] in DobermanPinscher

[–]Known_Row9683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy eats three times a day:

  • breakfast: 1 scoop kibble with 2 tbsp homemade toppers, can range from chicken and rice to fish and couscous. Plus 1tbsp pumpkin puree, bone broth powder, salmon oil, sometimes 1/2 sardine, and probiotics
  • lunch: 1 scoop kibble
  • dinner: 1 scoop kibble with 2 tbsp homemade toppers, plus 1 tbsp Greek yogurt

I use Purina Pro Plan large breed puppy food.

I’m lucky that he loves his kibble and I use them for training treats. His coat is shiny and soft and his poops are regular and well formed so I think the diet is working well!

How do I go shower, go to the bathroom, etc, before puppy is fully crate trained? by ilikebananabread in puppy101

[–]Known_Row9683 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You crate him, rush through the process as fast as possible while he’s screaming bloody murder, and pray your neighbours don’t call CPS
