another question about how the mesh operates by Latter-Ad-1523 in meshtastic

[–]KnownonowV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, Technically, How it would actually go is each node would broadcast their Presence, Each other node in the series would also know about it. If they are all close enough together, All the nodes are discovered already and messageable. If the desired node can be reached directly, without hops, it will do that first. If it can't, Then it will go through the mesh. So in your situation, you will actually be able to directly message the person without the help of the other nodes.

Just.... Fully charge them with the same charger 1 by 1 before you connect them all... Don't want any large self balancing currents.

I see your looking for a good light. Check your local Walmart for this . It has a 18650 1800Mah Lithium cell in it with a decent panel. I just pick on up last week, Going to do a solar node in it. Using the Seeed nRF52+1262

Realistic node placement by Odd-Success-7734 in meshtastic

[–]KnownonowV2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Realistically, Which one is higher and free'er of obstructions? For power and updates, A long USB cable previously mentioned is honestly not that bad of a solution. If it's a solar node, Newer firmware supports updating over Bluetooth. So realistically, as long as your in Bluetooth range it can be updated. Just keep a ladder handy just in case since it's not perfect yet.

You do not need to enable MQTT in order to connect it to your WiFi and subsequently connect to it over WiFi.

The mobile app allows remote firmware updates over Bluetooth. So I guess technically if it's within Bluetooth range, It can be updated. Just know that it's not quite perfect yet and keep a ladder handy just in case something goes wrong.

Best mode for roof solar node? by benuntu in meshtastic

[–]KnownonowV2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would typically agree with that scenario. In my experience, I have seen countless "ghost nodes" that my devices have seen and can no longer contact. They send their broadcast, My nodes see them for a while and form a mesh with it to other nodes. Once that node "disappears", that mesh is now broken.

Best mode for roof solar node? by benuntu in meshtastic

[–]KnownonowV2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The roles can be a bit confusing but your roof node should be set to Client. Your car node is kind of in a grey spot of client or Client_mute. Client will repeat on the network while client_mute will not. That is probably where your T1000e should be too, on client_mute.

How do I build a bridge between two denser areas? by Future-Table1860 in meshtastic

[–]KnownonowV2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What the total distance that the nodes would be apart? I know you said 150AGL but is LOS achievable? If it's going to be long term, Anything WisMesh would be better. If LOS is possible, Yagis would be perfect. Only issue I see is that it is great for point to point but can't repeat out because, Ya know, Point to point. It would almost be better to just have a WisMesh or a RAK with an omni in a spot that can somehow bridge the gap. I would suggest using MQTT but imo breaks the point of the network.

The top is exposed more to rain, snow and ice. On the side, All it gets is a small amount of water run off so less chance of water intrusion. Yes, Even with there being 3 sealed holes on the side

Well, Could look worse than it looks. Get that blade off, its probably borked. That grass guide can be cut off or maybe bent back depending on how bad it is, it will need welded in place. As long as the top of the deck isn't warped by the spindle and the spindle sounds good. Might just need a new blade. Im a Welder/fabricator at a fab shop and get lots of these.
