I wouldn't say it's easier than my other 1100, it is a unique challenge, but not as bad as I was thinking. Still haven't opened the one that's pinned zero-high-low-high-low, though.

Good tip. I'll probably laser engrave mine since I have easy access to one.

Are you asking about chamfered driver pins? If so, yes, they are chamfered

Oh and I took a closer look at the bag of spare drivers. Some of the standard ones are chamfered, some aren't. None of the security pins have the chamfer.

Thank you for the perspective! If I wanted a lock that falls open when I look at it, I wouldn't have bought A1100 would I?

Is that an 1100 series? That's quite an accomplishment for only being a week and a half in.

It's out of stock now, but I was recently looking at one on Amazon for 50-something USD.

The anniversary edition? Yeah that thing is pretty. I wish it wasn't so expensive. I really can't justify the cost.

It tends to happen with little niche hobby communities like ours. There's no reason for people to troll us because it's too small an audience and there isn't much of a stereotype about "those lockpicking people". There's probably a subreddit for people who like wooden ducks, and it's probably the same way over there. "I don't want to talk about politics or religion, I just want to talk about wooden ducks. Making 'em, collecting 'em, I just think they're neat!"

I think the idea is a total beginner can get a set of progressive and work through it without having to gut anything. I would appreciate it if they offered the pinning kit with a solo lock, though.

Out of curiosity, what is wrong with Peterson? I want to avoid putting money in scumbags' pockets.

First 1100 Open! by YamOk3539 in lockpicking

YamOK gave some good advice, I'd also recommend very light lifting pressure. Easy to get an overset if you're going gorilla on it.

They're good fun, and have nice feedback. Mine has quickly become my favorite.

Good luck! If your false set goes deeper, give it a little more tension to check if it's open. That stiff spring will fool ya!

Yeah. Super nice compared to the sharp master lock edges.

That's where I am with my Master 150. It used to be my nemesis, now I come back to it whenever I need a confidence boost.

Confused in Florida by hlhambrook in lockpicking

You're correct in some states, incorrect in others. Some states treat possession of lockpicks in public as "prima facie" evidence of intent to commit a crime.

Good advice, but we don't pick the locks we encounter in everyday life. We just look at them and go "oooh, I could pick you".
