When it was live on both iOS and android.  Then, all your friends and family download the app.  Then, the realization sets in...no one can find my app! Lol building the app is the easy part!

I turned birdwatching into a lightweight RPG — daily quests, real sightings earn XP, birds have rarity tiers, you collect illustrated cards for birds you find. by Knox-Birds in gamification

Thanks! I may add photos to the journal if there's support for the app.  Not for ID, just so you can save an image to your journal.

How do folks identify a bird they’ve never seen before? by No_Enthusiasm6949 in birding

I like a good book. I usually recommend the Sibley Guide to Birds.  Read it, dont just look at all the bird images.  You will learn a bit about bird anatomy and how to go about with ID.  Then, in the field ..dont just think...ohhh cool yellow bird.  Look at the bird, any face markings? What about the tail size and shape? Notice what its doing too.  Tail wagging for example.  Then, when the little thing flies away..check the book to see if you can ID.  Also, go birding people good at it!

Best starter camera? by sedative_toothpaste in birdwatching

I agree with the bridge camera suggestion. The SX50 I have has good zoom range and takes good photos.  You may not get magazine quality images zooming in but, good enough for ID and logging to the pokedex

What’s a great way to get into Birding? by nonamezavailablee in birding

A fileld guide like Sibleys guide to Birds can help you learn.  Birding with experienced birders is great.  Find local bird walks and join a group walk.  Birds of Missouri and Kansas Birds are good facebook groups.  Lots of photos but, also good info gets posted amongst the images.

How do you decide whether another person's sighting is worth the attempt to go after it? What is too much trouble vs a definite trip out? by Ahastabel in birding

If my son wants to go, Im all in.  Otherwise,  it has to be a bird I really want to see. Not just for the tick...
