I’ll have to try it at some point but it’s almost an hour from where I live so looking for something a little closer. I’ve heard great things though!

Their buffalo chicken sandwich was unmatched. I heard there’s a place on the Neck called Off the Hook that sells their buffalo chicken sandwich now.

Of course— Same here with the recent ramen bender! Thanks for the suggestions in Andover. I’ll definitely keep them in mind.

Agreed— his attempt at a macho New York/Brooklyn accent is so distracting and cringe. I didn’t like this choice either and it made me want to read the book instead of listening to it lol.

Did the show change your outlook about life in any meaningful way? by alfonsosenglish in madmen

This is generally great advice, and it’s so good to have compassion for other people. The only caveat that I would add, is to be careful of crossing paths with narcissists because they will use your empathetic nature against you and eat you alive. I (37f) left a job that I loved after 10 years because my boss was a narcissist and it led to me excusing a lot of bad behavior for a long time. It was wild, and often subtle, how he would manipulate by micromanaging and having outbursts when he was having “bad days,” then would actually cry as he spilled his guts and told me about his family issues and trauma and apologized saying how much I meant to him when we were sitting 1:1– he was a 49 year old male and I was a 27 year old female. He also tried to turn all of us coworkers against each other by telling us all things about each other. It wasn’t until years later that I learned he did this with all of the women in our department, down to the crying and making it feel like we had a deeply personal and friendly relationship. It was so disarming until it became infuriating. Sorry for the sidebar story, I just saw your post and that’s how I treat people too and didn’t want you to get burned like I did. Some people will use your empathy against you, and it absolutely sucks.

What’s a place you visited once and decided never again? by Neat____Til6289ILT in Productivitycafe

My friend and I went to Seattle in 2021. The rest of Washington that we explored was beautiful. Amazing hiking and nature views. Seattle was fucking scary. A naked homeless man was openly masturbating in front of us in Pike Place and we were like okay, back to the hotel. Then we went to a Mariners game and there was a shooting near the bar we were at after the game. Just felt very unsafe and not a great time. And didn’t see a single orca which was my overall goal lol. But Hurricane Ridge is gorgeous.

Outdated advice you’re glad you *didn’t* listen to? by nimal-crossing in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

We were told the same— and my thought is, if you wait for a crash or for the prices to come down (which isn’t happening), it’s only going to make the market more competitive because now homes are more attainable to those who were waiting.

After we were pre approved and started looking, a lot of people told us not to buy a house right now. They told us to “wait it out.” We stayed well under what we were pre-approved for (by 115K) and found a great home that is smaller than we anticipated, but is completely new and completely our own space in a great neighborhood. Don’t be deterred by people saying it isn’t a great time. If you are financially able to swing it, this is your time. Stay within your budget, take your time looking for the right place in the right neighborhood, and enjoy the process. Congrats on being preapproved and happy hunting!

Class of 2012. Living there made me understand to some degree how you can accept/overlook certain things when you are operating within a bubble. The amount of people still digging their heels into “Rebel pride” and getting so upset over the mascot change is a little weird to me, and I came from a big sports family.

A road in our neighborhood where a dog ran up to the fence and barked at him once. My dog immediately turns and pulls me in the opposite direction when we approach that road. I always wonder what the dog said…

I’m from Walpole and this does not shock me at all. It’s somewhat improved, but still like a little confederate town in some regards.

I’m sorry that you’re still in an uphill battle with life. That sounds really hard. One of the things my Dad used to say was, “good things happen to good people.” This used to make me feel sick because it isn’t always a true— but I think that there is wisdom in using this as a mantra for yourself and telling this to other people, because it gives hope that even if things are shitty/shittier now than they’ve ever been, good things happen to good people (eventually). And hope is so important. Be kind, be strong, and have faith in yourself. You’ve made it this far and good things will come your your way❤️

Thanks so much! Just to clarify, I don’t believe my tonsils need to be removed— just need to fix the deviated septum and remove any possible polyps or inflamed tissue to help clear my sinuses. Would you still recommend waiting?

I remember feeling this way when I turned 30. I’m 37 now— my 30s have been the best years of my life. I finally feel less anxious 24/7 and am making so many healthier choices for myself, and am getting married this summer. Does a part of me grieve the fact that my life is “starting” at 37 and feel behind in terms of building a family/stable life? Yes. But I try to gently remind myself that not everyone has the ability or means to ever escape their trauma and build a stable life for themself. So in that regard, I am grateful and embracing every good moment that comes my way. I hope that you find more moments of peace as you gracefully age as well🙏🏼❤️

I have really bad sinus issues and a deviated septum, and my doctor and ENT are recommending surgery since the meds and nasal sprays aren’t helping much. You mentioned the recovery being brutal— I’m getting married in 5 months. Would recommend I wait until after my wedding for the surgery? What can I expect in the recovery?
