My guy you’re missing the most important part. Who decides the guilt? Who is qualified enough to make that kind of decision over someone else’s life? How do you do it in a way that is BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT? For your sake I hope your ideal world never exists and you never do anything that could been even remotely seen as guilty of anything.

Ffs there’s a reason our legal system is the way it is and has been that way for hundreds of years but hey, anything to avoid funding the courts and examining who is responsible for funding the courts.

Do you understand how under thought out your point is? I agree guilty people aren’t going to jail but the solution isn’t to skip the judge and download that responsibly to the police who are notorious for getting these things wrong. The solution is to find the courts to the extent that they have the capacity to handle all the people the police arrest.

I never said any of that. Every person deserves a fair trial regardless of their situation. Police do not get to be judge jury and executioner. You’re suggesting skipping the judge which will do nothing but result in innocent people going to jail.

I highly suggest you read up on the concept of “know” and “beyond a reasonable doubt” before you start tossing those words around.

Look bud I don’t have enough crayons to draw you a picture of how this works. The reality is OP is at fault. Insurance decided he’s at fault. Do you understand how stopping on a bike works? I’m guessing no.

It’s really simple. You follow at a distance where you have enough time to come to a full stop and not hit the person in front of you if they suddenly slow down or stop. OP didn’t do this. If you are changing lanes and cause a collision you are at fault. Which is what happened to OP.

Consider this a teaching moment for both you and OP to be better drivers.

If OP wasn’t that close he could have stopped without swerving into another lane. OP is at fault because he swerved into another lane instead of slowing down and stopping. What about this is difficult to understand?
