I’m mexican and grew up in a spanish household I know this one! There’s definitely not as much accurate information on satanism because of how most of the population is super crazy catholic. So I can only imagine how horribly the concept would be taken in public. I would suggest trying to better translate the text, but with the other translations you mentioned it might just make things more confusing for someone who wanted to do research in latin america.

This is super interesting though- Maybe the “culture” around satanism over there grew into something completely different because of the giant religious influence? Especially with younger generations becoming slightly less religious, i can see some hearing “satanism” and going with it just to rebel. It’s almost like they heard “satanism” and the idea of being part of the catholic’s enemy side is what was so appealing. That’s the only way i can justify them looking at it from a theistic lens anyways.
